Because then the emotes would become useless. Rockstar wants us to buy emotes and communicate like cavemen. Show

Posted February 22, 2021 (edited) Could be a nice thing to have, in addition to mic.. Many players dont answer when you speak to them - then again, they dont answer messages either ..
Playing in a posse with my two sons (we are all adults - sort of) and we use TS, as we find this is better than the ingame system. But we haven't switched off the RDO game voice system, so are still able to speak to other players - and especially my youngest son (20 years old) is trying to talk to any player he meets (always start a conversation with : What up bro .... And yes, we know it's wrong, as it should be "what's up bro" - but he finds it funnier to say it wrong, sometimes with a fake russian accent .. )
9 out of 10 actually do not answer - and certainly not when the russian accent is used ..
Maybe it could be easier to find new friends, or find out what peoples intentions are, if a short message could be send as a chat ? Edited February 22, 2021 by KatzeFive

Posted February 22, 2021 (edited) I remember when a french player was using the mic in Velantine...
So i prefer the emotes and pure silence!
I think he should speak Danish: "Pillede rejer og smörrebröd " I will understand him! Edited February 22, 2021 by roggek

Ha hah - Had French posse surrounding me in the Lagras area, a while back - It was quite spooky, as they kept speaking french to each other, and I didn't had a clue what they talked about - was it me they were hunting, or crocodiles .. Could have been nice to slip them a note (in english) to find out their intentions ..
Yes, silence is good - emotes not always .. Tip your hat at a rank 5, and he immediately draws his guns and blast your head off (by mistake) ..
Not many Danes I've seen in this game so far .. A few Swedes (that didn't want to talk) - and a single low rank from Norway (where we fought over his wagon with goods) He did eventually loose the fight (three against one, isn't a fair fight - he should had left the game, and tried again, before we could deliver his goods at the drop point - now he lost everything ..) We tried to talk to him, but he didn't answer, so I wrote him a message afterwards - told him, he could have left the game and tried again without loosing his goods - and that he did put up a good fight - Haven't answered it yet ..
I think it could have been fun, if any of these encounters with our scandinavian neighbours could have led to some sort of cooperation.. If any of those players had answered, we could have made a posse invite, and we could help each other protect wagons - and this poor guy from Norway, could have had 1000 RDO$ in his pocket a few hours later .. But nobody speaks, so maybe a short text directly on the screen could have made the connection ? Link to commentShare on other sitesMore sharing options... StyxTxPosted February 22, 2021 StyxTx

Yeah, Russians tend to be among the people who use mods the most.
How about pig Latin? Link to commentShare on other sitesMore sharing options... KatzeFivePosted February 22, 2021 KatzeFive

Ha ha ha .. Yes, this is also my experience - this is why doing the russia accent is so funny .. People just litterally flee, when he says: "Hrreelooo.. Whrrat urrph, brroohh" ...
What on earth is "pig latin" ?
(Cant insert "Kronk" from "emperor's new groove" - talking squirrel language picture .. You will have to imagine that : Squeakity squeak squeaker squeak, squeak squeaker squeak, squeak squeak squeaker. Squeak, squeaker squeak.) Posted February 22, 2021 I'd like have telegraph offices where we could send back and forth messages. More realistic. I'd even be willing to pay on a per word basis just like they did back in the day.

Posted February 22, 2021 I'd use a USB keyboard with my Xbox, if stuff like this had text chat.
I come from the DIKU Mud days, of computing. I tried some of the first graphical mud type games, but it was not until the pre-alpha test of Ultima Online that I saw what was going to happen; you still used text though, as you still do now in games like World of Warcraft. I stopped raiding in World of Warcraft when it was insisted that we "had to" use ventrilo/whatever and mics. It just isn't my thing, plus the mouth breathing nerd voices... So I turned off mic hearing/usein RDO nearly right away.
I just find it more efficient to use text. Mic use, in these games, is nearly always "proximity." It is that way in Elder Scrolls Online and in this game. I shut it off in both games, upon hearing some rando just saying something or in one case singing along to some music they were playing with their kid.
Text chat, with a keyboard on the Xbox (or even easier for computer players, of course), would be me riding up to a player and emoting and not having to use the xbox messaging thing of messaging their gamertag (which is laborious.) Though never properly trained, since I've been typing since the days of text muds I'm pretty rapid at it; a good decision I made was to learn proper placement of your fingers and at least somewhat use the early computer typing teachers. So it would be easy for me to ride up to someone and say, in text that they could see right there in game,
"you should join my posse when I select you so then we could do the daily for riding in that boat I've parked along the shore over there!"
It would just be a lot easier. Of course people would still use mics if they always played together, or whatever, but for random player notification it would be easier for me to type. The other guy doesn't even have to type, he'd have a clarified reason for me asking him to join the posse (without assuming we both had mics on or something and that he knew I was talking to him.)

PSN app with phone. If no phone you can use the same app through Bluestacks on PC.
There's also an xbox app. You'd have to look into it as I'm not an xbox user. Edited February 22, 2021 by *Lola Link to commentShare on other sitesMore sharing options... aaronBLUEeyesPosted February 24, 2021 aaronBLUEeyes

These are the kinds of things they should be adding. We have enough clothes, horses, weapons, and whatever. Let's start opening up the potential of the game for Pete's sake. BTW, who the hell is Pete? How do you talk to people on Red Dead Redemption? If Marston has honor past neutral and the player presses the O/B button while facing a friendly NPC, Marston will tip his hat towards the NPC followed by a spoken greeting. The NPC will often return the greeting. Alternatively, the player can taunt other NPCs if their honor is below neutral.
What is the push to talk button in Red Dead online? The push to talk button is N. You'll see your name on the right side of the screen when your mic is on.
How do you hear other players in RDR2 online? Please follow the below steps to resolve this issue:. Access the map screen.. Access the Menu.. Go to Settings and select Audio.. Locate the "Voice Chat Mode" and select one of the options: Auto - You will hear both Area and Team Voice Chat. Area - You will only hear Area Voice chat. Team - You will only hear Team Voice chat.. |
