Is Attack on Titan appropriate for a 14 year old

I would say that 15 or 16 is a good general age, because you need to be mature enough to understand the themes and the general messages of the show. Some People younger than 15 can watch the show and understand it just as well as older viewers, but some may not, so the general age i'd say is fifteen, but i think depends on how mature a person is really. And of course there's a lot of gore.
The official rating for it is 15 anyway. I think it should be a 15, but people younger can watch it. The only problem with 11-13 year olds is that, I’ve seen people on here that still don’t understand the history of Titans, what’s actually happening in the moment, simple conversation, and far more questionable things. If half the fanbase are idiots, don’t pay attention, or only like it for the action and Levi, then an 11 year old isn’t going to understand some of the sh*t here. Even if they can handle it, they won’t appreciate the foreshadowing, complexity and work put into it. I watched the first season when I was under 11, and I could handle it fine, but my appreciation of the series was when I watched it last year.
It's definitely one of the more violent anime I've ever seen, though way better on the more inappropriate aspects usually common in anime. Overall if you/your parents don't have a problem with violence and moderate gore (think giant squishing a person) then you should be fine, I'd totally eat lunch and watch it without a second thought.
