Is Elvis and Me on Disney Plus

Get ready to rock and roll: Elvis is on demand, now. Baz Luhrmann's stylized biopic of Elvis Presley has landed on video streaming platforms.

The biopic, starring Austin Butler as Elvis and Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker, premiered at Cannes Film Festival in May 2022. Elvis's ex-wife Priscilla Presley, and their daughter Lisa Marie Presley, both loved the film. Priscilla raved, "It is a true story told brilliantly and creatively that only Baz, in his unique artistic way, could have delivered. Austin Butler, who played Elvis is outstanding."

At Cannes, Luhrmann got emotional speaking about Priscilla's review. He said, "No critique, no review was ever going to mean more to us than the one from the woman who was married to him. She said: ‘If my husband was here today, he’d say ‘Hot damn, you are me’…it was the best review I’ve ever had."

Lisa Marie thinks Butler should win an Oscar for his portrayal of her father. Elvis, she wrote on Twitter, "is nothing short of spectacular. Absolutely exquisite. Austin Butler channeled and embodied my father’s heart & soul beautifully." She continued, In my humble opinion, his performance is unprecedented and FINALLY done accurately and respectfully. (If he doesn’t get an Oscar for this, I will eat my own foot, haha.)"

The Presley family approves of Elvis—and if you didn't catch the film in theaters, you can now you can decide for yourself what you think of the over-the-top movie.

Elvis is the new movie from Oscar-nominated filmmaker Baz Luhrmann that explores the life and music of Elvis Presley. It stars Austin Butler (Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood) as the title character and Oscar winner Tom Hanks (Greyhound, Toy Story 4) as Colonel Tom Parker.

As told by Parker, the film delves into the complex dynamic between the 2 men spanning over 20 years, from Presley's rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and loss of innocence in America. Central to that journey is one of the significant and influential people in Presley's life, Priscilla (Olivia DeJonge - The Staircase).
