The Owl House’s season 3 episode 1 will air on Disney Channel and Disney XD on Saturday, October 15 at 9 PM ET/PT, it has been officially announced.

The Owl House Season 2 finale left off with Luz and her friends stuck in the human realm, ready to do whatever it takes to return to the demon realm in order to save the Boiling Isles from Emperor Belos and the Collector. According to the exclusive report by TV Guide, “The first 44-minute special, titled “Thanks to Them,” will pick up right where that episode left off.

The Disney Channel YouTube page has now posted two brief clips from the show; have a look below. Both characters in the two snippets had significantly longer hair than when we last saw them in the season 2 finale, which is an interesting hint that The Owl House is about to undergo a time jump.

The Owl House’s third season, which was cancelled by Disney, will be the series’ final instalment. It will also not be a typical 19–21–episode season; rather, it will be “composed of three 44–minute specials.”

Why Was The Third Season Of The Owl House Reduced?

During a Reddit Ask Me Anything session, The Terrace would go into additional detail regarding the reasons she thought Disney had fired The Owl House. The first question was whether the cancellation of the series was due to the inclusion of LGBTQ+ characters.

Terrace claimed that neither the production’s budget nor the fact that it was pandemic-related was to blame for the cancellation and that she “wasn’t even permitted to present my case.”

The creator would subsequently say that given the budget and viewership at the time of this decision, the third season should have lasted a full season. According to Terrace, the actual cause for the same was branding.

As Terrace noted in a since-deleted tweet, the simplest approach for fans to ask for more episodes of The Owl House season 3 is to get in touch with Disney directly.

Fans, however, have also acted independently and launched a plethora of petitions urging Disney to carry on with The Owl House’s production. The most popular petition had over 168,000 signatures at the time of writing and is just a few people away from hitting its target of 200,000.

According to the petition, Disney “appears to read DMs and emails, perhaps due to 1) the vast amount they receive, and 2) the fact that folks writing letters are statistically above 18 and so capable of earning and spending money (like on, say, cable subscriptions or merchandise).” They then emphasise the significance of using “snail mail” to transmit actual letters.
