It adapts the nine films of the Skywalker saga, and was released on April 5, 2022.[3] Contents
GameplayUnlike previous LEGO Star Wars games, the levels in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga do not need to be completed in a linear order. The hub area in the game is now a vast open-world environment that the player can fully explore. Additionally, random encounters can also appear in the hub relevant to the time that the player is taking part in, and players can choose to engage or disengage in the encounters.[7] Each film consists of five missions, making for a total of forty-five levels.[8] Development"With LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, we are giving players an all-new LEGO Star Wars experience with the freedom to explore the galaxy like never before. Whether they are existing fans of the franchise or discovering it for the first time, everyone will enjoy the epic story of all nine films with all the humor and charm that LEGO games bring."―Jonathan Smith[9] LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was first announced in an interview with Matthew Wood at Celebration Chicago 2019.[10] The game's story has been overhauled, and the levels redone from LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga and LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens.[11] The May 7, 2020 episode of This Week! in Star Wars gave it a release date of October 20,[12] however the video was taken down and replaced with the release date omitted.[13] A new look for the game premiered at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, 2021.[14] Initially announced for a 2020 release,[10] The Skywalker Saga's first delay came in August of that year for spring 2021.[15] A year later, a new release date of spring 2022 was revealed,[16] with a specific date of April 5 confirmed in January 2022.[3] It was released on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. The game was released in both a standard edition and deluxe edition. The latter includes a special Darth Vader slipcover, a "Character Collection bundle" (seven DLC character packs), and a Luke Skywalker-with-Blue-Milk minifigure.[15] The seven DLC packs to be included in the Character Collection bundle are The Mandalorian Pack 1, The Mandalorian Pack 2, a Rogue One: A Star Wars Story pack, a Classic Characters pack, a Solo: A Star Wars Story pack, a Star Wars: The Bad Batch pack, and a Trooper pack.[3] A classic Obi-Wan Kenobi is included in the digital release.[17] Several 2020 LEGO sets included exclusive codes that unlock certain characters and vehicles in the game, including:
Temmin Wexley (Code: SKYSAGA) was included for completing a survey for the game,[18] and Mister Bones (Code: BAC1CKP) was revealed in social media posts for the game.[19] A holiday-themed Chewbacca (Code: WOOKIEE) and Poe Dameron (Code: KORDOKU) were later revealed as well.[20] On May 19, 2022 the game received an update with four new capital ships and 34 kyber bricks.[21] On September 9, 2022, a Marvel Entertainment video game showcase announced an upcoming Galactic Edition, which would include six new DLC character packs.[22] These would be an Obi-Wan Kenobi pack, Andor pack, The Book of Boba Fett pack, Star Wars: The Clone Wars pack, Star Wars Rebels pack, and a LEGO Star Wars Summer Vacation pack.[23] It was released on November 1.[24] MediaCover galleryLogo reveal Final cover Full cover art Character art Deluxe Edition Deluxe Edition unmasked Galactic Edition Spanish cover CreditsBy typeCastUncredited castCrewUncredited crewSpecial thanks Cast
