Assuming it was formatted in the accepted file system and is loaded with readable files that your smart TV should recognize, the next thing you need to do is check if the hard drive uses the GUID Partition Table (GPT). Smart TVs do not recognize GPT partitioning. Your TV may see a USB device plugged in, but it will not be able to see the contents.
