Moto G Power 2022 vs 2022 Reddit

I just bought one a week before prime day, and it's been much better than the G7 power it's replacing. I think the bad reviews are mostly over the lack of NFC, which doesn't bother me because my cards work fine. They're also picky about the resolution of the screen, but the fact is it's just numbers and most human eyes wouldn't notice the difference anyway. And then they consider the processor a bit of a downgrade from the year before and they might be right, but I sure haven't noticed any issue there. For a $200 phone, this thing is doing just great 👍

Both my daughter and I got G Pure phones and both phones continually have issues with not sending or receiving texts, shutting off randomly and needing reboots, and sometimes even refusing to dial out even though service shows at full bars. They are both on a premium, unlimited T-Mobile service; we live in different cities so it's not location that's the issue. In the 6 months we've now had them I can safely say that these are the most unreliable phones I've ever had. My husband has a low-cost Samsung phone, same service, same location as me, and has no issues. I've had so many Motos in the past and loved them. It scares me to have my daughter out running around with such an unreliable device, so even though it's on TMobiles 24 month = free phone, it's not worth it, we'll pay these off and dump them for something else. I am kinda shocked, I was a real Moto fan until this.

Soooo where is the android 12 update for the moto g power 2022? Is there a beta program? Is there a set date? Android 11 is nice and all on this but where is android 12.

I used to be a S20 user and switching to moto was probably the best thing ever, it's just pure android and perfect in every way.

Hi u/Bryce_TheDice

We appreciate you having one of our phones. As of the moment, we don't have exact dates/timelines to share aside from the team working hard to deliver the updates to all eligible devices globally. You will receive an alert on your phone if an upgrade is available. The official list of phones eligible for upgrades is always available on our Software Upgrade News Page.

What made you switch from the S20 to the new Moto Power? I actually totally agree with you, the Moto version of Android is super clean with helpful gestures, it reminds me so much of LG's custom Android. But do you think the Power is too heavy to hold? That's unfortunately the downside, so many Motorola phones released in the last few years are over 7 ounces, just too thick and massive in my opinion. You can feel it bulging in your pocket just walking around. Also I'm not intentionally making this sound weird LOL

It'll come eventually, it took them quite awhile for them to launch the Android 11 update with the G Power 21 version. If the device performs well currently, don't stress it. The 12 update while it does bring the new UI, isn't everyone's favorite because there are still some bugs.

level 1

You bought a Moto phone and think you're gonna get fast updates? I have to laugh.

level 2

I didn't buy it was given too me plus this is my first time with moto

level 1

Samsung is on a whole other realm of Android updates than Motorola, moto is on the bottom-tier and if an update happens its a miracle... Given the Moto G Power is a budget device, it'll be a while for moto to release an update.. Also just as a side note, Moto provides one android version update for their phones, unlike Samsung and Google

I don't really know that model, but I have a Z³ and it works great 🤔

level 1

Moto is just throwing what ever they got in the junk drawer to build a phone for the US market now.

I know now I'm going to be hanging on to my G Power 2020 model for as long as possible maybe even to the point I have the battery replaced in a year or so. There doesn't seem to be anything in my 300$ and under price range to replace it next year that is any good.

level 2

Exactly how I feel these days, they assemble the reject parts and that's what we end up with.

level 1

Glad to find this. SO WHY DOES MOTO G 2020 MAKE IT SEEMINGLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SIMULTANEOUSLY PLAY TWO PAIRED BLUETOOTH SPEAKERS?! V.5 LOADED, ANDROID 10. I SHOULDN'T NEED TO SPEND 30 MIN ON THIS WHEN ITS 2 SECONDS WITH GALAXY SO+

IDEAS?

level 1

My biggest issue with Motorola is they ship a phone with an old OS (10) during a year when everyone else is upgrading to the new OS (11) and then don't upgrade to that OS in a timely manner AND don't provide an upgrade path to the upcoming OS (12).

Moto needs to support at least 2 major OS upgrades beyond the OS version installed at ship.

level 2

My G Power 2021 carrier variant is still stuck on Android 10. All I hear from support is soon for the last several months

level 2

Wasn't how Motorola always rolled up until end of 2020, for the most part. Starting in 2021 though this seems to have become a fairly common occurrence. In the past their release dates where somewhere in the 2nd quarter now it is whenever they feel there's a need I guess... Think they're playing rock paper scissor to determine what to release next and when LOL. Either way they've lost me with their antics doubting we'll ever see another new Moto grace our hands, shame cuz was really starting to dig them.

Snapdragon 662 to helio G37.

level 2

What's the performance comparison between these two chips? I tried googling but it only shows comparisons between the SD 662 and G35.

level 1

let me guess. still no nfc

level 1

If I still had my Z3 Play, there wouldn't be nothing to upgrade to, the 2020 and the 2021 had basically the same processor (overclocked) and a worse screen, the 2022 is even worse. They need to release the same phones they release worldwide.

level 2

I'm fairly new to the Motorola phone world buying my first in 2019 (G7). Was so impressed bought the 2020 G Power & Stylus (my daily right now), was even more impressed especially considering what we paid. For the most part nothing at all to complain about.

But come 2021 it essentially turn into a gong show here in North America with their offerings and I swear they are just about ready to jump ship. Can't see it any other way especially when looking at all the global/international offerings. We've been basically handed the rejects so longer do they spark my interest one iota.

level 1

Motorola was really bad since the Moto G4 imo (Since they got bought by Lenovo), Worst phone I've ever had, full of QC issues. Surnia was fucking great, I loved that thing (Moto E2+).

level 1

G Power 2026 will just be a flip phone

level 2

It will run kai OS instead of android.

· 10 mo. agoMoto Edge 5G, G Pure, Z3 Play

At least it will last a long time, like it supposed to :)

level 1

I can't wait for the G Power 2023 with even more downgrades. But hey, 1 billion megapixels!!! Buy now!

Why is US Moto so bad now

level 2

From my gatherings Motorola's focus is now on the global markets. That was evident when they released their first few 2021 offerings (way too early BTW) while they were working on the global G10's. Here in Canada the situation is even worse. But hey, we're still offered the Motorola RAZR 5G and Edge Plus (2020 phone's) for very reasonable prices of $1,999.99 CAD and $1,499.99 CAD, respectively. NOT!

level 2

I may add that i don't live in the US (which meant i had the 4/64 variant of the Moto G7 Power) so our Moto's are okay,,
