In My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission, a mysterious terrorist group called the Humanize are introduced. They strongly believe in the "Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory." The theory states that as future generations continue to be mixed with the Quirk genes, the power it holds will lead to humanity’s demise. Furthermore, Humanize believes that Quirks are a disease, and so, they plan to “cleanse the world” by exterminating anyone who has one. Humanize planted "Ideo Trigger Bombs" in various countries, and these explosives are said to make a Quirk-user lose control of their Quirk, leading to mass destruction. To save and protect everyone, Pro-Heroes from around the world, and the U.A. Academy heroes-in-training, unite to thwart the efforts of the mysterious group.

My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission is the third MHA movie released since the anime began, with it making its way into theaters in Japan on August 6, 2021, later arriving for American audiences in October of the same year. The movie was a hit, earning $47.03 million at the box office, but didn’t hang around in cinemas for all that long and is no longer showing. If you didn’t catch it in theaters, you’re probably wondering where you can watch My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission online.

My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission is due to release on home video in DVD and Blu-Ray formats and on streaming via Crunchyroll from August 23th, 2022 in the United States. Netflix UK has Heroes Rising, the second film, on the service as well as the first season of the show, but Netflix US has no MHA at all. Do I Need To Watch My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission?

While it’s been mentioned that My Hero Academia’s movies are all canon, they’re strangely never referenced in the show itself and their events are almost completely disregarded.

While the events of World Heroes’ Mission take place before the Endeavor arc (the end of Season 4 and parts of Season 5), there’s been no mention of it all the way up to the end of Season 5 in the show.

If you want more My Hero Academia with very low stakes where you know that nothing will really stick or matter, My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission is a fun romp, if nothing else.
