  • A brief moment - an evil captain throws a girl toward his crew to make her his prisoner. He menacingly says that she should show them the same hospitality that he did before. Then the crew members start touching and groping her menacingly - some tug at her clothes. This is stopped soon though

    Edit

  • William and Elizabeth share a kiss.

    Edit

  • There are some sexual references.

    Edit

  • Elizabeth wears a white dress that gets wet. Her nipples and the outline of her breasts can be seen vaguely.

    Edit

  • Dresses reveal cleavage.

    Edit

  • During a sword fight with Will, Jack suggests that Will found a love interest and is "unable to woo said strumpet" and then asks him if he is a eunuch. "Strumpet" is a dated term for a female prostitute and "eunuch" refers to a castrated man.

    Edit

  • Two men tell a girl she will be forced to dine naked with the crew, if she refuses to wear the dress that Barbossa instructed her to wear for dinner. The crew expresses disappointment when she says she'll dine with Barbossa.

    Edit

  • Elizabeth is told to take her dress off (although she is wearing a tight dress underneath so she is not naked). The man makes a remark about the dress still being "warm".

    Edit

  • Seduction is implied on a desert island scene when Elizabeth pretends to be drunk and seductive in order to get Jack to drink more.

    Edit

  • Two women slap Captain Jack Sparrow about him with "another woman."

    Edit

The Parents Guide items below may give away important plot points.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • There's talk of rum runners and Jack then opens a compartment on an island filled with bottles of rum. Elizabeth comments on his last stay on the island consisting of lying on the beach and drinking rum and he replies, "Welcome to the Caribbean." We then later see him and Elizabeth and both are drunk. Both drink some more, with him guzzling his down and then passing out. When he wakes up the next morning, she's burning the rum (as a rescue signal).

Is Pirates of the Caribbean ok for 13 year olds?

The MPAA rated Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl PG-13 for action/adventure violence.

Can a 10 year old watch Pirates of the Caribbean?

Some of the themes and violence in this movie are likely to be too much for young kids, particularly as they may not understand them properly. The violence, however, is never sustained and is often interspersed with a bit of comedy.

Is Pirates of the Caribbean suitable for kids?

The movie is not especially graphic but does feature things like an undead pirate crew that may be disturbing to some kids. There are revealing bodices and mild sexual references (not explicit and showing no nudity or sexual situations).

Is it the movie appropriate for a 12 year old?

Great film, but not for kids under 13 I recommend this film to everyone who loves slightly disturbing films and TV shows like me but for anyone under the age of 13 you really should not watch it. It's very gory and contains adult language.
