Road 96: how to save John

John is one of the main 8 characters in Road 96 who is a truck driver as well as a member of the Black Brigades. He lost his middle and index finger on his right hand after trying to save his love, Conny, from the falling rocks in the Peak Collapse of '86. After the tragedy he began to regret joining the Black Brigades, believing that they are not what they set out to be, but continues to work for them during the events of the game. John maintains a long distance relationship with Fanny and acts as a father figure to Alex.

The Passenger[]

After stealing a car, you will see John waving for help after Mister Grizzly broke down on the side of the road. He will ask for help, and have you drive him to a phone booth. I think you just need to keep playing. I recently got the ending where John, Fanny and Alex get away together. But in that playthrough I sacrificed one of the teens saving Fanny from the car accident. The I got a scene where I had to help Jarod "wash" a body in a motel. I saw he had the blueprints for the bomb but noticed it too late and couldn't take them. I also helped Alex on that playthrough to connect with Fanny and at the end Alex defused the bomb with my help, John convinced Fanny to stay aside and run together. Then I joined the fight and died so Zoe didn't have to. So I think you just get them at random depending on the scenes you get.

Walkthrough Episode 1

The story starts at limousines. Sonya tells you about herself, her work and, most importantly, gives you a big boost. Once you arrive at your destination, you can drink to restore your stamina. You will talk to the woman about the job and make some important first choices.

Listen to what the woman says. For example, important to know how to open the sunroof. This allows you to see the area. Sonya will then use it to threaten the people around her. Make sure that the conversation with her goes well and without incident. The woman will not kick you out of the limousine and will happily take you to a safe place.

Tags on in-game variants are key. They have a direct impact on the ending. There are three paths available: elections, revolution и escape. They are marked with special icons displayed in the screenshot above. We have described the endings and how to get them on a separate page guides.

Zoe

If the conversation with the limo driver goes well, she will drive you to safety. Here you will meet several new characters, and Zoe will be the most important. She is sitting on one of the trailers with a pipe in her hands. The first thing you should do is just talk to her to find out more about her and find out how she got there.

In this area you will find a small locked room. To open it, you will either need hacking skill, which you don't have one yet, or you can enter a code. The code - 4166. Inside you will find money that can help you escape.

You need to sleep to advance the story. There is not enough space in the trailer, but you can safely sleep on a mattress near a small light source. Do this only after making sure you have seen everything important in the area.

At night, Zoe will wake you up because she wants to play the trumpet with you. Your task is to keep the conversation going between playing the instrument. Playing the trumpet is not difficult. You just need to move and connect the white stripe with the yellow ones as often as possible.

As soon as the night concert is over, you have to decide what will happen next. You have a choice: take taxi, bus, walk or ride. If you choose the latter option, you will encounter an important new character.

John

If you choose to ride, you will encounter a new character. John is a truck driver who will be happy to help you. During a conversation, you can make certain critical decisions.

In addition to continuing the conversation, your task will be to relax and prepare a cocktail for the man. This way you will earn your first skill. You just need to collect 3 ingredients and then mix them. At the same time, you have the opportunity to rob a man, but this is not recommended. This will affect your relationship and John's attitude towards other characters. It is best to stay on friendly terms and he will help you more than once.

After making the cocktail, you can choose whether you want to continue on your own or have John take you to the next safe location.

Alex

The next safe place is roadside bar. Once there, you can talk to customers, drink, eat, and meet Alex. This meeting is very important because boy teach you how to hack.

First, however, you will have to play with it. The result doesn't matter. However, it is important to be friendly towards Alex.. It's best to avoid arguing with him, and in return, he'll help you learn how to lockpick and even help other characters you control in the future.

After talking to Alex and restoring your stamina bar, you will head to the storage room next to the bar. Alex will open the door and you can ask him to teach you a new skill. Hacking will come in handy many times during the game.

In the storage room you will find a lot of money along with the car keys. Having completed this task, it's time to continue the escape. You can choose which path to take. The keys you found could be used to steal someone's car.

Stan and Mitch

If you decide to steal a car, you will definitely run into two more key figures along the way. Stan and Mitch are thieves that will appear during each character's story. They will interrogate you in the car. If you don't answer correctly, you will be thrown out of your car and robbed. Right answers:

3. motorbike.

Fanny

Policewoman Fanny is the next character you will encounter along the way. It is worth helping her in changing the wheel. This task simply entails unscrewing the old wheel, replacing it, and inflating it properly. By attaching the wheel, you will be able to talk to the woman. She won't help you further in the future. Your task will be to continue walking on your own.

Escape

You will reach a location that has all the characters. You will pass through a safe forest to a place where you will have to choose an escape route. There are many characters, both new and old. Some of them will be willing to help you, but everything has a price. For this route, it would be a good idea to choose a path that requires hacking. Hacking skill is enough to break through tunnels. All you have to do along the way is open the doors and nothing will happen to you. In this way, you will finally achieve the freedom you wanted.

Walkthrough Episode 2: Signal to Escape

yarod

At the beginning of the 2nd chapter of the game, you will need to choose one of the characters. We opted for option 1, which wakes up in a motel on the main road.

You can walk freely, talk to people and search the area. The game will only progress after you run away or fall asleep. You can only escape if you have the ability to steal. You can then easily grab your car keys. However, if you don't have this skill, go to bed instead. This will restore some of your stamina bar.

You will wake up in a hotel room where you will meet Jarod. We cannot reveal the task he has prepared for you, but we can say that if you help him, he will let you go and give you money.

Fanny

You can continue your journey by bus. During the trip, you will again encounter a policeman who will be in a furious mood. The atmosphere on the bus will be tense. Need to calm the situation down everyone was driving safely. However, if you cause an outburst of anger, the woman will be forced to leave the bus, but you can continue your journey.

Zoe

If you drive after getting off the bus, you will run into Zoe, who continues her travels. You will find yourself together in the same car. Inside you can talk to her and play games. This will take up most of the journey.

Unfortunately for you, the police will stop you. Whatever you say to Zoe, she will start arguing. Eventually she will be arrested. However, you have an important choice.. You can either help her or stay with the others in the car. If you try to help the girl, you will be left on the side of the road while the police pick her up. However, you are already near the evacuation zone. Go there to achieve the freedom you long for.

Escape

In this case, restore your stamina bar, because the best way to escape will be on a truck. Buy food and try maintain your stamina. This is especially important on this route.

In the truck you will find food. Be sure to take it with you. When they use the dog to search the truck, throw food to the animal so it doesn't tell you.

Endurance is needed to escape. You will have to complete a section during which you need to hold your breath. It will use up over half of your stamina bar. However, if you manage to complete it, you will escape.

Walkthrough Episode 3: In the same boat

Zoe

It's time for a new character and a new road to freedom. This time we chose a 17 year old guy with $2 in his account. You start the chapter by meeting Zoewho is chained to a police car. There are several ways to solve this predicament. If you wish, you can simply leave Zoe and choose another vehicle.

If you want to help girl, you should go to the metal shed behind the station. The entrance is not locked. You can just open the door and grab a few things. The keys left in the closet should be of particular interest to you.

You can distract the cops by hacking the tower. To do this, you need a skill obtained from Alex. If you follow our guide, you should have learned how to do this already in Chapter 1.

Now you can steal police keys and help the girl. Unfortunately, you will be caught. Fortunately, on the way you will be attacked by criminals who will allow you to leave the car. You are already closer to your destination than at a gas station.

Soon you will encounter a character that you have already met before. Agreeing to help her can earn you a lot of money. She will instruct you to remove her and the presidential candidate. You can swing the camera around wildly, interrupt it, and record everything but what it asks you to do if you want. It doesn't matter since she will pay you in the end anyway.

After receiving the money, you can keep going. We decided to hitchhike to save money.

John

If you choose to hitchhike, you will encounter John. He needs your help. You will be attacked along the way. Grab your gun and get ready to fight. Shoot the car attacking you to make it move off the road. Only after the shootout will you be able to leave John's truck.

Stan and Mitch

Soon, you will again encounter a couple of thieves that you met in the first chapter. They are trying to rob another place and need your help. If you agree to participate in the robbery, they will reward you with a new skill that will allow you to develop your character and escape. Don't forget to buy food here. You can find free food in the place you will be looting.

During a robbery, be sure to help your allies, and do not hinder them. It will pay off when you manage to escape. Look around carefully and restore some stamina. We recommend eating Burgerfound on the table.

During this task, you will need two codes. One of them is the security password you need to use when the alarm rings to prevent the guards from arriving. The correct code is A45 D2R CPP12. The second code you need is 4707. After a successful robbery, you can escape.

Alex

you will meet Alex on the way to. You must turn off the power of the phone booth in order for it to talk to you. You will learn a lot of interesting things during the conversation. The decisions are up to you, but your choices affect how some important characters in the story act. After the conversation is over, you can move on. Alex will hack the taxi network for you, allowing you to progress further for free.

Escape

It's time for another escape. If you followed the guide and saved money, you can use the services of a woman who offers to take you across the border. You need 50 dollarsto pay her. If you do this, you will safely leave the country.

Walkthrough Episode 4: With an empty tank

John

Chapter 4 marks the beginning of another storyline. This time, we chose the character starting closest to the destination, traveling in a stolen car.

On the way you will meet Johnwhom we recommend to help. He needs help in moving between the indicated points. Your task is to identify them on the map. Just indicate the directions in which he needs to go. This time it's north and west. Once you do this, John will move to where you told him to. Completing this quest rewards you with money that can make your escape easier..

Soon you will come across a festival that you can enter with Sonya. You can gamble with her. It can bring you a lot of moneyso we recommend spending some time here. Sonya makes bets, you gamble, and then you get paid.

At some point, Sonya will ask you to return her pursewhich she left in the bathroom. You should pick it up and go back to where you were. However, Sony is no longer there. Don't worry about her - she just got back to her limousine. Give her back her wallet and hit the road again.

You will eventually run into another familiar character. Jarod will drive - you need to be careful and not provoke him. If successful, you will receive skill Cleverness. You can also take a nap in the car to restore your stamina.

Stan and Mitch

Shortly after, you will find a roadside bar. Your stamina bar should be full if you slept in the cockpit. However, you must sit down at the table to advance the story. We recommend ordering food. This will allow you to restore your stamina if it is not full.

Unfortunately, you will be interrupted by already known thieves. Stan and Mitch will rob the bar, but there is something you can do to save yourself. Offer to help them and collect money from other visitors. If you do this, you will not be hurt and you will save your money. After this meeting, you can continue your journey.

Alex

Shortly after the bar robbery, you will find yourself in Alex's car. You can talk to the boy along the way, find out how he is doing and influence how he behaves towards other characters.

Your task here is to to tune the radio and antennas until you get the perfect signalwhich will allow the boy to speak freely. After completing the task, you will reach the end of the path.

Escape and Zoe

Now you will meet Zoey again. You can follow her to her destination. You will spend several hours together, getting to know the girl better and finding out what she wants to do. If you want to successfully escape, you must listen to Zoya. It is she who leads and determines your course of action.

Listen to her and follow her instructions to the very end. Complete the tasks she gives you. At the very end, you will have to make an important decision - your life depends on your choice. If you want to survive, run without looking back.

Walkthrough Episode 5: The moment is near

The next chapter begins with character selection. We chose a character traveling in a stolen car.

You will encounter Sonya early on. You can spend some time talking to her, learning about her and getting some money for your efforts. Drop Sonya off at the phone booth and then continue the journey without her.

John

You will find yourself in a roadside bar. We recommend looking into the small room before entering the bar. You can open the room with a lockpick. Inside you will find, among other things, the keys to the car with which you can escape.

Take the keys and enter the panel. You can gamble here to earn valuable money. This is not the main reason why you are here. You must spend some time with the men drinking at the counter. You will pass out and be drawn into planning an ambush. Your choice here affects the ending you get..

After completing all tasks inside the bar you can play some more to earn more money. Once you're done, head towards the car you grabbed the keys from. Get inside and leave.

Fanny

Soon you will run into a female police officer, Fanny, with an unusual task for you. You must carefully tack between cars and drop her in a certain place. This sequence requires focus and dexterity.

Fanny will leave you something before she gets out of the car. Pick it up to get skill government pass.

Escape

This time we decided to escape through the mountains, since our character had a lot of stamina. We recommend making the most of it before choosing this challenging yet rewarding route.. Nothing will happen to you on the way if you are sure to rest in the designated places. You will reach your destination with half your stamina, allowing you to escape safely.

Walkthrough Episode 6: End of the Road

Each of the final characters starts in the same place. Once you have made your choice, you will spawn at the hotel next to the main road.

Here you will meet a panicked owner who needs your help. Agree to help her in order to get some money out of it.

You must bring some champagne to one of the rooms. You can use the card on the way and enter the utility room at the reception. There you will find your car keys which you can use to leave the hotel safely.

At the top you will meet Sonya again. She wants to record her material and wants you to hold the camera. Your behavior throughout the game will affect the lives of the characters. We won't give away the plot or any details - just remember to focus on the dialogue.

yarod

After leaving Sonya's room, head to the car from which you stole the keys. Once you get inside, eat whatever you find there. You have to replenish your stamina, eating food left in the car will allow you to do this for free.

Jarod will eventually appear, blocking your path. Do your best not to piss him off. He will kill you if you do. If you succeed, he will just throw you out of the car., forcing you to travel the rest of the road in a different way.

Stan and Mitch

A little further along the road you will come across a dilapidated building. There you will find money and food. Drink and eat whatever you can to restore your stamina.

Unfortunately, here you will run into Stan and Mitch - the confrontation is not to be missed. If you want to survive, you must tell them the date of the attack. The correct date is 09/09. After three failed attempts, they will attack you. Act quickly and make sure you tell them the correct answer. Eventually, they will let you go.

Unfortunately, this time the path to freedom is not as easy as it used to be. You will eventually run into some cops who will arrest you.

End

There are many variables that determine your ending. These are, first of all, the decisions that you make during the main storyline. They are marked with special icons. Decisions are divided into support for elections, revolution, or concern only for escape. At the end, you can decide whether to join the fight at the border or run away. All important plot characters will meet there, their fates depend on your decisions. Then you will see the ending and find out what happened to the country and its citizens.
