1.  Introduction
============================================================

This is a walk-through over the PC version of Romance of 
Three Kingdoms V in traditional Chinese languages by Koei. 

The game is base on the Chinese history of the Han/Three 
Kingdoms periods.

Romance of Three Kingdoms V is rated as taught difficulty 
in www.gamefaqs.com for a good reason because it is true. 
This game is one of the toughest Romance of Three Kingdoms 
game out there. I will assume you had played Romance of 
Three Kingdoms 3 and 4 by Koei before you play this game. 
If you have not, go and play Romance of Three Kingdoms 4 
first because Romance of Three Kingdoms 5 is an extension 
of Romance of Three Kingdoms 3 & 4.

Many concepts in Romance of Three Kingdoms 3 & 4 can be 
use in Romance of Three Kingdoms 5. So get good in Romance 
of Three Kingdoms 3 & 4 will help a great deal in playing 
Romance of Three Kingdoms 5.

In this guide I will teach you the basic functionality 
and strategies on how to win the game. Because Romance 
of Three Kingdoms games are strategy game and thepath to 
victory is not fix, in this guide I can only give you 
practical concepts and how you plan and conquer every 
cities in the game is up to you.

This game is a turn base game just like Romance of Three 
Kingdoms 4.

Terms used in this documents:
ROTK        = Romance of Three Kingdoms.
ROTK-3      = Romance of Three Kingdoms 3.
ROTK-4      = Romance of Three Kingdoms 4.
ROTK-5      = Romance of Three Kingdoms 5.
ROTK-5PUK   = Romance of Three Kingdoms 5 Power Up Kit.
ROTK-6      = Romance of Three Kingdoms 6.
ROTK-7      = Romance of Three Kingdoms 7.
ROTK-8      = Romance of Three Kingdoms 8.

In the game there are many nested menu's, meaning one 
menu inside another menu. In this guide I have use 
the "->" symbol which mean the sub-menu of some button. 
The game sometime have upto 3 nested sub-menu's for 
you to navigate. Hope you don't find it too confusing. 
If you play other later version of ROTK games you will 
know what I mean.

2.  Unique feature about Romance Of Three Kingdoms 5
============================================================
You might ask why should you play ROTK-5 when there is 
so many other ROTK games out there. What so good about 
your ROTK-5 compare to all the other ROTK games. You 
might think I bet ROTK-5 is not much different to some 
other ROTK versions and other ROTK versions is even 
better? Well, to answer that question I will try to 
answer it below:

*   Formation:
    The game focus on troop unit formation which is 
    different to all other Romance Of Three 
    Kingdoms games. 

    Romance Of Three Kingdoms 5 is the only game 
    out there where you can taste this favour and 
    once get good at playing this game, it is nothing 
    like all the other ROTK game out there. In this 
    game you will have to understand and take advantage 
    of formation, special-skills andground type to 
    achieve victory rather than large troop numbers in 
    everybattle of the game. Although having a large 
    number do help, howeverif you fail at using the 
    correct formation in the right time and the right 
    place it will either slow you down or see your troop 
    units getting capture in the battlefield.
   
    Troop unit formation is the main part of this game 
    different to all otherRomance Of Three Kingdoms 
    games. Romance Of Three Kingdoms 5 is the only game 
    out there where you can taste this favour and once 
    you get good  at playing this game, t is nothing 
    like all the other ROTK game out there.

    In other Medieval war games formation may not 
    make much of a differents in your battle plan 
    and tactic to achieve victory, however in ROTK-5 
    it is the most important feature because using 
    the wrong formation on the wrong ground type can 
    be a disaster to your troop-unit in the battlefield.

    Unlike Romance Of Three Kingdoms 3 and Romance Of 
    Three Kingdoms 4just depending on officer status 
    like strength/war and intelligence ability, officer 
    skills and ground-type-positioning to achieve 
    victory is not enough n this game.

    In Romance Of Three Kingdoms 3 battle strategy is 
    more about officer status, ambush in forest, 
    and simultaneous melee attack in-order for a 
    smaller army to fight against a bigger army.

    In Romance Of Three Kingdoms 4 battle strategy 
    is more about positioning of troop-unit and confuse 
    the enemy with confusion skill, where smaller army 
    can still win if you place your troop-unit on a higher 
    ground position than the enemy ground position. Also 
    the super skill such as changing weather and wind 
    direction combine with fire attack will turn the whole
    battle toward your favour if you have the weather and 
    wind ability skills in the officer skill chart. For 
    example if you have Zhuge-Liang, he have bothweather 
    and wind skills you can use him to burn the whole 
    battlefield in a defensive battle and change weather 
    to sunny and wind to blow towardthe enemy direction to 
    burn their whole army out of existent.

    In Romance Of Three Kingdoms 5 battle formation is 
    everything where using the wrong formation in the 
    wrong ground type or/and wrong timing can be a 
    disaster even if you have larger force or good 
    officer status.

    In this guide I will have try to explain it in English 
    and hope some die-hard Romance Of Three Kingdoms series 
    fan out there that cannot
    read Japanese or Chinese can still play this game.

*   Officer duty-type:
    Can only change officers duty type on January unlike 
    Romance Of Three Kingdoms 3 which you can change 
    officer between military and civil any time you want.

    Unless you assign your officer as special-type, you 
    will not able tochange officer duty-type once it is 
    in anything other than special-type.

*   Attack direction:
    Attack from the flank and back increase damage point. 
    I personally find other ROTK games like Romance Of 
    Three Kingdoms 12 a bit disappointed when it doesn't 
    seem to make a different in where you attack them. 
    However in ROTK-5 attack enemy units in the 
    battlefield from the flank and back increase 
    damage greatly.

*   Immortal-wanders in battle and civil-duties:
    The game have immortal-wanders such as Hua-Tuo, 
    Sima-Shi and Zuo-Ciwhich has the best skills of 
    the game which you can recruit and stay with you 
    for short period of times to help you in your 
    campaign. 

    In the previous ROTK Koei game, these immortal-wanders 
    can only give you info about other empire officers and 
    cities. In this game they can go into the battle with 
    you and use theirsuper skill such as immortal-healing 
    to heal all your units and illusion to mass confuse all 
    enemy units.

*   Unlimited info:
    Unlike ROTK-3 and ROTK-4 you don't need to spy on 
    anyone, all info is available from the start to finish. 
    However this is also true for your enemies. They can 
    see all your stuffs and you can see all their stuffs.

*   Alliance and research technologies:
    Unlike other ROTK games in-order to upgrade your 
    technologies and upgrade your formation effectiveness 
    you need to first set alliance with an another ruler 
    with equal or longer time periods of the research time
    requirement and you and your ally have to pay the same 
    amount of golds to do the research. This is the odd 
    feature about this game.

    The game basically force you to set alliance with 
    someone in-order to upgrade your technology, because 
    of this requirement you will also need to plan out how 
    to protect your ally during the research periods so 
    your research don't get interrupted or you lose your 
    research  technology. Therefore if you ally with 
    someone small you will need to either protect them or 
    hope they don't get eaten up by a bigger factions.

    What about ally with some big ruler to do the research, 
    well then that ruler will be harder for you to do 
    battle with because with a large force and good 
    technology it will be harder for you to attack them 
    since you don't have advantage in technology 
    effectiveness. 

    At the same time I find some big rulers don't 
    like you to having all the technologies developed 
    and refuse to do join research with youwhich leave 
    you without having your formation chart fullyupgraded, 
    which can be kind of suck sometime. Small rulers are
    usually more willing to accept join research and big 
    ruler tenses to refuse. You can give them gold and 
    food to please them, howeverit happen to me sometime 
    time where it is impossible with do joinresearch 
    because these ruler simply refuse to do research with 
    me even if their hate toward me was zero. 
    Which can be frustrating.

*   Officer recruitment battles:
    They are two type of battle in this game one is 
    the obvious combat battle where you attack or defense 
    a city. The second is more hidden, it is the 
    recruitment battle where you continuously steal 
    officers from other empire into yours by recruiting 
    them, so they can work for you and build up your city 
    and winning battles

    This is a important part of the game. If you don't 
    have good officers to help you with your empire then 
    you are sitting duck for other stronger empires to 
    overrun you. So keep an eyes on the officer loyalty 
    and make sure their loyalty is 100. Also you can take 
    advantage of the situation and recruit officers from 
    other empire with 90 or less loyalty.

    In ROTK-5 you can recruit any officer in the game and 
    not just adjacentcities one. So if you are in the north 
    you can recruit any officers in thesouth of China 
    without a problem on talking to them.

    Therefore spreading gossip into enemy city is useful 
    in this game because by lowing there city happiness 
    and officers loyalty you can weaken their empire 
    without actually fighting them. However each time you 
    steal/recruit their officer their hate toward your 
    empire increase. So recruit strategically so your 
    neighbors empire don't hate you too much to increase 
    the likelihood that they will attack you when you are 
    small and weak in troop numbersfor battle on the start 
    of the campaign.

*   Wall Special Skill Tactics:
    Unlike other ROTK games in ROTK-5 you cannot sit 
    on top of walls and getan advantage over the 
    attacker, so why build up your wall at all if
    the attacker can just take over it without climbing 
    over it to attackyour unit. Well, this is where 
    wall special skill come in. Once you buildup your 
    wall to 800 to 999 you can use wall wall special 
    skillas long as you have an officer with 900 fame 
    and sitting on the castleto wait for the enemy to 
    come to you.

    Okay hopefully this will give you a good introduction 
    for the game.Now let get start going over more game 
    details to prepare you for the campaign.

3.  Game campaign
============================================================
There are mainly two parts of the game. They are civil 
duties and war.

Civil part of the game is where you look after your city 
or cities in the game. Things like moving officers, 
drafting soldiers, giving foods to present to rise 
population happiness and so on.

The war part of the game is where you either defend a 
city under your control or attack adjacent cities 
outside your empire.

Once you conquer every cities in the game you will 
achieve victory and the game end and if you lose all 
city in the game then you lost the game and have to 
start again.

Notes: Words such as officer and general in this guide 
is the same thing, theyare character that you can recruit 
in the game to fight for your faction or empire.

4.  Starting the Romance Of Three Kingdoms 5 game
============================================================

*   1st windows screen:
    Once you start on the game you may see some animation 
    of somerandom warlords, usually three such as Liu-Bei,
    Cao-Cao, and Sun-Qian animation and after that you 
    will see the phoenix blue backgroundwindow with a 
    box in the  middle with say text 
    "茫?絨?筝???V紲?????綣欠????腆????上?ュ??腆?罘?"
    and "腆肴?" button.

    Which translate to "Please insert your Romance Of 
    Three Kingdoms 5Power Up Kit CD into your CD-device" 
    and click "Enter".

    Now the version I have I just press enter without 
    any CD and I will see the next window of all the 
    options. Depending which version you are playing 
    either ROTK-5 or ROTK-5PUK you might have a bigger 
    or smaller list. However let me tell you the ROTK-5PUK 
    is notthat much better then ROTK-5, so you are not 
    missing anythingmajor by playing ROTK-5 and anyway I 
    will go over that inanother section. Notes the insert 
    CD thing could be a bug, I don'tknow. The ROTK-5 I got
    works, and I hope yours do too.

Total amount of officers under your command in your empire.

T.A.C. = Total amount of cites: 
Total amount of cities under your command in your empire.

? Love heart = Popularity:
How happy are your people-population toward your ruler.
The higher this number is the more command points you can 
have in issuing commands for each month. Minimum is 3 
commands points and max is 10 commands points.

腱糸?? = Move:
Move command allow you to move officer from one city to 
another. There is no limit in romance of three kingdoms 5 
in where you move your officer to. It doesn't have to be 
adjacent city that the officer live in. You can move an 
officer one a far away distance unlike romance of three 
kingdoms 4.

??? = War:
War command allow you to attack adjacent enemy city 
around any city belong to you. As long as it have a 
road connect their city and your city you can attack it. 
Once it is click, the game will ask you which adjacent 
connected enemy city you want to attack and then you will 
assign officers to attack it.

??筝 = Ruler:
Ruler command button allow you to reward, give item, 
appoint officer office position, edit amount of soldiers 
assign to each officers, or send officer to have a banquet 
to restore their energy to 100.

End your turn of the game. Other empire will start their 
turn and you may or not require to do battle with them. 
If other empire attack your cityyou will require to 
response either to defend your city or move all officers 
and resources to other adjacent city that belong to you.
Command-Points #: You will see a book and a number next 
to the ruler and adviser animated characters in the middle 
of the main menu. This number isyour command points which 
stand for the number of commands you can issue perturn in 
the game. of course the more you have the better, however 
yourcommand point is effected by your popularity. Your 
popularity is the loveheart number just under your ruler 
face picture.

The way to increase popularity is to completed task you 
accept during January council meeting. Each time you 
completed the task you accepted for your empire to complete 
your popularity will increase from 0 to 1000 points.
Minimum of command points is 3 and maximum is 10.
Use points list below as a rough guide:
From 0   to 300 points: 3 commands.
From 300 to 399 points: 4 commands.
From 400 to 499 points: 5 commands.
From 500 to 599 points: 6 commands.
From 600 to 699 points: 7 commands.
From 700 to 799 points: 7 commands.

    @   Assigning troop to officers:
        In ROTK-5 use the same method as ROTK-3 and 
        ROTK-7 way to assign troop to officer. Each 
        officer can assign a fix-maximum of solider 
        base on their rank-title in the empire and 
        their rank-title is base on their fame in 
        the game.

    @   Unlike ROTK-4 and ROTK-8, you assign soldiers 
    to officer in civil duty period not just before war. 
    So if your officer have no soldiers assigned to 
    him/her in civil duty time, they will no solider 
    in the battlefield.

What do the formation chart above mean?
*   If the line is close to the center of the statistic 
    chart the effectiveness is low;
*   If the line is expand out and toward the edge of the 
    chart then it effectiveness is high;
*   For example you when you read the pointer formation, 
    you will see the statistic shape in the middle of the 
    chart are very strong toward the movement edge 
    meaning it is very strong in movement but it  
    archery attack and archery defense is toward the 
    center meaning it is weak in archery attack and 
    defense and it is half way toward melee attack 
    meaning it is average in melee and 1/4 way toward 
    melee defense meaning it is less-than-average in 
    melee defense.

Notes:  Most historical officers in the game will 
        only less than 4 formation type in their list 
        unless they are train up with larger experiences 
        points both of their formation chart and special 
        skills list will not be completed. Therefore it 
        require planning in your city defense since every 
        officer is only good at a few things and bad at 
        many things.

6.  Battle requirement
============================================================
* 1 turn per day. This mean on each day you may use one 
    turn for each battle unit on your side, unless you use 
    the 篁?茵?/immortal-skills to heal all your unit soldiers 
    and the AI will randomly give some of your unit(s) a 
    second turn in one day.

* You can bring a maximum of 10 units of your side 
    within your empire per battle.

* If you ask for reinforcement from adjacent alliance 
    empire they can bring more unit into the battlefield 
    on join-attack or join-defense battle. Also you will 
    need to reward your ally with gold and food if they do 
    send help into the battlefield after the battle.

* Your empire must have enough food for all your units 
    for 30 days, especially for the attacking side or 
    you will lose the battle.

* Unlike ROTK-3 and ROTK-4 you can attack city not 
    adjacent to your officers station city, however 
    they will have less than 30 days of battle time

Battle victory requirement for defense:
* If the enemy ruler got capture in the field.
* Or if you destroy all enemy troop unit in the battlefield.
* Attacker most successfully capture the city within 
    30 days or lose the battle because they run out of food.
* Your ally get gold and food from you after you won 
    the battle, if you ask them to help you.

Battle victory requirement for attack:
* If the enemy ruler get capture in the field.
* Or if you destroy all enemy troop unit in the battlefield.
* Or if you capture all enemy castle in the battlefield. 
        Each time you capture a castle in the battlefield 
        you will turn the castle into red which mean you 
        have successfully convert the defense castle into 
        your side. Once you convert all castle to red you 
        win the attack battle and conquered the defense 
        city.
* Your ally get gold and food from you after you won the 
    join attack battle if you ask for one.

Once the defense lose the battle all their officers in 
the city will be force to move to an adjacent cities 
within their empire or have their empire destroy because 
their faction have no more city left to run to. Even if 
they have adjacent city that they can run to some officer
may get capture by the attacker in random AI calculation.

If the attacker lose then they may lose all their food 
that they bring into the battlefield and some of their 
officer may get capture by the defender.

7.  Formation and battle strategies
============================================================

Overview:
Once you understand in reading the formation chart you 
will know with battle experience when to use what 
formation in assigning to your officer troop unit in 
battle.

For example the pointer and long-snake formation is good 
for running around the field, so you will want to usually 
start with them on the startand once you get close to the 
enemy unit you will use your adviser on thefield to 
change your officer formation to spear formation to 
charge into the enemy flank or back for maximum damage.

Front, side and back attacks & defense:
In melee attack and defense it is always an advantage to 
attack the enemy from the side/flank or the back. Attack 
the enemy unit from the front is usually avoided. 

In this game you will see as the computer AI show you 
when you battle with them that they always try to attack 
you form the flank or back side so your unit will get 
maximum damage.

At the same time when you position your troop-unit in 
the field you should place your unit as the front facing 
the enemy and try to get the enemy to attack you from the 
front rather than the back, so you will 
get minimum damage.

Field tactics
-------------
It is important to understand in this game you cannot 
simply place random set of officers into a city and 
hope they can defend an attack. It will not happen 
even if you have are 2 time the size of your enemy 
force, they can still out smart you or overrun you 
by better unit movement skills,  using the correct 
formation at the right times and use officer 
special-skills at the right time to destroy your much 
larger force. Both  Romance Of Three Kingdoms 3 and 
Romance Of Three Kingdoms 4 can act as a tutorial into 
for Romance Of Three Kingdoms 5 if you are new to the 
Koei Romance Of Three Kingdoms series.

If you have played Romance Of Three Kingdoms 3 and 
Romance Of Three Kingdoms 4 you will know it is important 
to take advantage on battlefield ground, weather, wind,
officer-status,officer-field-tactics such as confusion, 
chain, weather-change, wind-directionand fire in Romance 
Of Three Kingdoms 4 battles and simultaneous-attack in 
Romance Of Three Kingdoms 3 battle to cause maximum 
damages to the enemy unit in battle rather than depending 
on large number of troop all the time in every battles.

In the Romance Of Three Kingdoms 4 Power Up Kit version 
of the game in "225AD Tribal Kings Defy the 
Three Kingdoms" or the "The Clash of Wei, Wu, and Shu" 
scenarios if you choose the shu kingdoms or Liu-Bei, 
you are always started your scenario as the smaller 
force compare to Cao-Cao/Wei force, so in term of number 
it is next to impossible on the start  to do anything 
about it. Therefore you will need strategies, tactics, 
good planning to fight against the odd all the time in 
every early battles when Wei come full force at you with 
more-than 3 time the sizes of troop number compare to your 
smaller Shu/Liu-Bei force. Assuming you have Zhuge-Liang 
and Jiang-Wei as your advisers, you can use change the 
weather to sunny, wind toward the enemy direction, and 
use fire attack on the ground and see your whole 
battlefield burn with fire and yourenemy burn with them 
without you doing any melee or archery attack or defend 
against the enemy to achieve victory. 

This is what I mean by strategies and tactic because it is 
simply impossible to get close to any enemy units because 
once you do, they will charge at  you like crazy again and 
again until you get capture. So you will have to use the 
most advance method in the game to fight against all odds.

Below I will give some tips and guide on what to do in 
different situation, you will be better prepare. I have 
try to write out the below in ROTK-3 and ROTK-4 style 
for you to easily consume better.

Change-formation
    Change-formation can be perform by adviser during 
    battlefield time period. Before every battle the 
    game will ask you to change and set every officers 
    battle formation to fight against the enemy, however 
    you will be not be able to change this once it is 
    set in the battlefield unless you have an adviser 
    or an officer that have the set-formation special 
    skills in their special skills list.

    What you need to do in battle is to click on your 
    adviser and click on it change-formation/紊?? command 
    to change any officer unit formation that best suited 
    for the situation. This is why you need to plan out 
    your defense strategy in your border cities, so you 
    will have the best chance fight against the odds 
    when the time comes

Simultaneous attack
    To use simultaneous attack your officer will need 
    to be in the (藏雁深/crane-wing) formation in-order to 
    perform the simultaneous melee attack. Therefore not 
    every officer can do it. It is important to understand 
    your team of officers weakness and strength before 
    going into battle. Unlike ROTK-3 which require your 
    officer to have 70 army command level ROTK-5 require 
    the officer to have the crane-wing formation in their 
    formation chart.

    If you have played Romance of three kingdoms 3 and 
    Romance of three kingdoms 7 you will understand in 
    term of melee attack, your enemy unit will lose more 
    if you use simultaneous attack on
    them rather than one at a time.
 
Movement
    Best movement formation are (??茵?/Pointer 
    and ?決??/long-snake) both of these give good 
    movement distance in each turn compare to other 
    formation. So you should assign either of these 
    to your officer troop-unit on the start of battle 
    preparation window. Once you get close to any 
    enemy unit you should change to other formation 
    that best suited to your battle situation.

Melee attack
    When come to attacking enemy unit the 
    (薛?蕷?/fish-scales or ????spear) are the best 
    and the (??茵?/Pointer or ?決??/long-snake) are average. 
    However ??茵?/pointer formation is slightly better 
    than ?決??/long-snake so use the pointer formation 
    if your officer have it.

Melee defense
    When come to defense where you place your unit to 
    wait for enemy unit to melee attack your unit, it is 
    best to change them to either (????/moon-eclipse 
    or ?劫??/square-cicle). Square-cicle are the best 
    defense formation in the game in term on melee and 
    archery defense.

Archery attack
    The best archery attack formation is (??茵?/goose) 
    formation with long range of 3 block distances and 
    strong archery defense as well. However the goose 
    formation is very poor in melee attack, so try to  
    place these unit behind other better melee unit or 
    at a distance from the enemy in battle.

Archery defense
    The (???/hook and 膊?綵?winnow-basket) formation are 
    both average in archery defense and attack, however 
    it is slightly better in melee attack and defense 
    compare to the goose formation. In term of tactic I 
    will still place them away from enemy melee attack 
    because they are not good at maintaining against 
    melee attacks. The (?劫??/square-cicle) formation is 
    good for both melee and archery defense against enemy 
    attacks. So try to change your unit into the  
    square-cicle so they can take all the damage from 
    the enemy. 

Water attack and defense
    Without much info needed of course it is best to use 
    the water formation when you place your unit in water 
    area. Most Sun-Quan officers have this formation in 
    their formation-chart. Also in wet ground area the  
    water-formation is also effective compare to other 
    formation and it will rarely get stuck into the 
    muddy or wet ground. As it randomly happen, sometime 
    your unit will get stuck when position into wet 
    ground which will course them to be un-able to move.

    So always try to avoid walking or placing your unit 
    into wet ground to avoid getting them stuck into the 
    mud. However it is also an advantage to try to get 
    your enemy units to walk into muddy ground if your 
    have water formation so they will get stuck or move 
    slowly into the mud and you can attack them from 
    behind all the times if your officer can change into 
    the water-formation.

============================================================
8.  Alliance and research-technology-development
============================================================
The only way to upgrade your formation battle 
technologies is by an alliance and do 
join-research-development.

The below are the factors base on my experiences 
of playing ROTK-5 for getting other ruler to do 
research with you:

- The size of your empire? If you are big such as you have 
    5 or more cities and one or two capital cities then 
    other ruler simply see you as a treat more than 
    friends. So it doesn't  matter how you please them, 
    they will still say no, in research because they 
    know you will attack them sooner or later.

- Their gold amount and rate of income? Smaller ruler 
    may have gold/money problem, so even if they like 
    you they simply don't have enough gold to do 
    anything in research.

- Your history or Have you been in war with them before? 
    Once you have attack or defend against them in 
    war your  relationship with the AI ruler will 
    get recorded and the AI ruler  will remember 
    your history and will calculate/decide how much 
    of a treat you are to them once you developed 
    the technology.

    I personally find if I never fight a war with the 
    ruler before getting my full list of technologies 
    developed with them are much easier.

- Their empire location. Empire/rulers like the 
    Sun-Qian and Liu-Biao families like to have 
    advantage over other rulers in  water battles 
    so doing boat research can be hard with them.  
    Plus boat is the second highest in cost to do 
    join research.

    So if all other smaller rulers is eaten up by you 
    or other rulers and Sun-Qian or Liu-Biao is the only 
    few rulers left, you will have a hard time getting 
    them to do join research on boat technology with you 
    especially when you are a big empire in the game.

Once you have game experiences, you will find that you 
have to find a small rulers with few cities and they 
need your help in war or gold or food, no-warring history 
with them, with low hate points toward you, a long 
history of alliance with you, and have enough gold/money 
in-order with to do join research with you. 

Also you need to protect them in war otherwise ally-ruler 
with one city may get destroy by other faction.

Now that is not impossible but it is not easy either. 
Therefore you will have to plan from day one of your 
campaign which ruler you want to be friend with and 
which rulers you can set as enemy, because if you get 
this wrong getting your full list of research completed 
can be hard.

I have a few campaign experiences where the rulers 
understand my technology list and refuse to do join 
research with me to get it completed,even when I get 
their hate toward me to zero, rulers/families like 
Sun-Qian and Liu-Biao and every other rulers simply 
refuse. So I cannot get my technology list completed 
because they calculated I was too big and a treat to 
their power.

9.  Strategically planning in battle and civil-duties
============================================================

Unlike other Romance Of Three Kingdoms from 
(1 to 4) or (6 to 13) or beyond. In Romance 
Of Three Kingdoms 5 you really need to plan your 
team of officers in each city for both battle and 
civil duties. It is not Okay to simply place some 
random officers into a city and hope they can defend 
an attack or develop our city quickly specially when 
you are in the early time of the game and you choose 
a smaller force such as Liu-Bei as your ruler in the 
game.

In order to plan out your city or cities for battle 
defense and attack we need the right officers in the 
right city at the right time. It is important to check 
out all your cities officers and place the officers with 
the right set of formation and special-skills in the 
correct city to fight against the enemy units in battle.

Also on the early period of the game where you try to 
conquer a few more cities for your empire it is 
important to check your officer formation and skills 
to plan out which part of China as your base, because 
if you haven't got water formation officers and try to 
set your base in the south  east region of China is much 
of an advantage for you. Most officers in  the game have 
pointer and spear formation which is good for flat or 
mountain ground so you need to plan out early to avoid 
slow down in  your campaign.

============================================================
10. Officer cities placement
============================================================

Cities around water:
Officers that have 羂顔??water formation and water-tactic 
special skills should be place at cities that have more 
water surrounding it. Cities should as Xiang-Yang, 
Jiang-Ling, Wu-Ling, Ling-Ling, ChangSha and mostly 
South-Jing-region of China where Liu-Biao and Sun-Qian 
area are best suited for water formation officers. 
However almost every battlefield in the game have some 
small or medium size of ponds or rivers so having water 
formation will give you the edge over an enemy that 
don't have it. Even battlefield around north-west like 
Xi-Liang have small pond of water in the battlefield.

Cities with mostly flat land:
Officer that don't have water formation but with 
??茵?/Pointer and ?決??/long-snake are good for flat 
ground where they can run around the field and 
melee attack enemy flank and back easier. Most 
central plain and north-east area will be suitable 
for this formation

Cities with mostly mountain:
Officer with ??茵?/Pointer, ?決??/long-snake, 薛?蕷?/fish-scales, 
and ????Spear can  be position in cities where mainly 
mountain and flat ground exist.

The Shu south-west area are mostly suitable for these 
formation. Both fish-scales and spear formation are 
charge and mountain formation,  you should change into 
these two formation once the position and  timing is 
right for you to charge into the enemy. Charging into 
enemy  rear will cause great damages even if your 
officer have low strength/war ability against an enemy 
with greater strength/war ability.

Example of battle sequence (effective us of pointer and 
spear formation ):
*  As you start off your battle with pointer-formation;
*  Run next to enemy unit in battle strategically;
*  Then change into spear-formation to charge into their 
    flank or back with cause high damages;
*  Then change into the moon-eclipse or square-cicle 
    formation
    for the enemy turn to attack you with minimum 
    damages against you. 
    
Now this is what I called strategy in Romance Of Three 
Kingdoms 5, however you will need to 2 advisers that 
will do nothing but changing other unit formations for 
this strategy to work, since every change-formation 
command will cost one turn of your battle unit.

Also like ROTK-4 confusion with charge attack strategy 
also works in ROTK-5.  Unit in confuse state will be 
ineffective to defense against any melee or archery 
attack. However you will need the 薛?蕷?/fish-scales 
and ????Spear for charge attack.

Recommendation building team of officers for battle
---------------------------------------------------
Now after reading all materials above you now have a 
good understanding on ROTK-5 features compare to it 
previous ROTK-3 and ROTK-4 games.

For ROTK-5 you really need a set officers design to 
fight certain battle for your city or cities. Each 
cities should have a set of 10 officers with at least 
one 荵?絽?adviser officer which can change your unit 
formation and confusion enemy unit if they have the 
confuse-skill in as one of their skill in their skill 
list.

For an officer to be an adviser they need intelligence 
level of 90 or over and politic level of 85 or over. 
However I have not tested this so use it is as a 
rough guide.

Battle officer team Recommendation:
*   At least one adviser for changing formation 
        within your team.
*   At least one officer with crane-wing formation 
        for simultaneous 
    melee attack.
*   At least 2 to 4 officers with fish-scales or spear 
        formation for charge.
*   At least 2 officers with moon-eclipse or square-cicle 
        for defense and
    thrown into the front-line to take enemy attack 
        damages.
*   At least 2 officers with goose or hook for 
        archery attack.
*   At least 2 officers with confusion or mass-illusion 
    skills to confuse enemy units.
*   At least 1 officers with self heal or  mass 
        immortal-heal skills.

Recommendation in assigning team of 10 officers for 
civil duties:
------------------------------------------------------------
Once you move the most battle effective 10 officers into 
your border city, it is time to assign them with civil 
duties as well.

In term of civil duties, you will need:
*   At least 2 officer for military-type duties. Best to 
        use good strength or war officers.
*   One officer for recruitment-type. Best to use good 
        politic and charm officer.
*   One special-type officer for giving food to increase 
    public loyalty. Best to use an average charm and 
    strength or war officer. If you only have one city 
    then you ruler can be the special-type officer.
*   One officer for stratagem-type for plots.
*   And all other officer(s) can be civil-type for 
    city development.

Assigning your team this way I find give the best 
effectiveness in both civil duties and war.

11. Battle of recruiting officers
============================================================
Unlike ROTK-3 and ROTK4, in ROTK-5 you can recruit any 
officer from any cities without constraint in term of 
distance. Both ROTK-3 and ROTK-4 you can recruit 
officers that live next your city or cities only, 
however not in ROTK-5. This can be an advantage and an 
disadvantage, it mean you can not hide your unloyal 
officer(s) like in ROTK-3 and ROTK4 deep within your 
empire, so you can have time to build up their loyalty. 
You must get their loyalty to 100 once you got them or 
risk other empire stealing them away from you. Base on 
my experiences once they are stolen from your empire, 
it is very hard to get them back. You must spread Gossip 
to their city to lower them to around 80 or lower for 
you to have any chance to get them back.

Also once you destroy an empire any officer(s) that 
doesn't want to follow you it is impossible to recruit 
them directly. You have to wait for other other ruler 
to recruit them first than you can steal the officer 
away from them. This is risking hate point toward you 
and make it harder for you to do research with other 
empire.

The best way to recruit anyone is to make sure you have 
at 1000 extra gold and least 2 command points on your 
main-menu. So once you recruit them you can give them 
gold straight away to fill up their loyal to 100. I 
recommend you save before you successfully recruit 
anyone to go back and load-game just to make sure you 
didn't pay them enough gold to get their loyal up to 
100. Some officer are very Incompatible with your ruler 
and some are easy, it all depend on their compatibility 
points hidden in the officer status. You can view it or 
edit it in PC Romance Of Three Kingdoms 5 Power Up Kit 
version, but not with basic version.

During your game play you will see other rulers 
stealing each other officers all the times and these 
who have the large number of officers and some with 
good status-officers usually ending up destroying 
weaker faction with small amount of officers or have 
hardly any good one like Kong-Rong who have only one or 
two officer(s) under him, that is why you will see him 
get destroy early in the game compare to someone like 
Cao-Cao who have many above average officers serving him. 
Liu-Bei can survive only because he have Guan-Yu, 
Zhang-Fei and Zhuge-Liang serving him, otherwise you will 
see him get overrun early as well, since he is usually 
weak in troop numbers.

Therefore in early start of your campaign you should 
plan out who you want to set alliance with and who is 
your enemy and try to avoid stealing anyone officers 
you want to ally with and only steal from the rulers 
you don't really care about. That way it make doing 
join-research like boat and catapult for your water 
and squre-cicle formation upgrade easier.

Remember in ROTK-5 there is no getting around way in 
doing research, alliance and join-research development 
is the only way to upgrade technologies.

Once you got your full list of technologies you can do 
whatever you want and don't have to care so much about 
technology and alliance because you are done with it.

12. Building Up Your Officer
============================================================
In ROTK-5 and most series afterwards building up your 
character(s) be come more and more important. This is 
especially true in ROTK-10. By playing ROTK-5 you can 
see KOEI beginning to make character building much more 
important than just conquering China or Japan  in there 
historical games series. It makes player feel more live 
playing this game where you can see some lowly initial 
crappy character able to build up to some above average 
character/officer in the game because the player have 
spend time building the character and feel a bitrewarding 
afterward.

In ROTK-5, any ruler you pick will possibly have some 
small amount of fame and experiences, however it is 
usually not much and most of your officers following 
him will be also the same with small amount of fame 
and experiences. This lead to most of your officers 
including your ruler with only half the special-skills 
open to you for you to use in battle.

In ROTK-5 the way you can open more special-skills and 
gain more formation types is by gaining more experiences 
points. Basically the more experiences points you gain the 
more chances you have to open more special-skills and 
formations which helps in battles and your conquest to 
complete the game in getting all the cities in the map.

This is why in the "Recommendation in assigning team 
of 10 officers for civil duties:" topic section I show 
you the way to assign your 10 officers and why most 
are civil officers. Because building up your farm, 
dam, economy, and walls is what you do most of the 
time and it doesn't get hate toward you by other rulers 
either by you doing stealing their officer or warring 
them.

Koei make this so you are not just some conquering
machine beating up everyone all the time. If you see 
the way they force you to set up alliance for 
research-technology and building up your officers 
experiences you will feel more lively playing this 
game :)

13. Recruiting immortal-wanders
============================================================
Immortal-wanders have all the best status and special 
skills in the game. They are usually high in 
intelligence and have skill like witchcraft, illusion 
and immortal-healing skills which is the best special 
skill in this game. In ROTK-4 the best skills is weather 
and wind combination to burn the whole battlefield, in 
ROTK-5 you can not do that because the wind skills do not 
exist, so you can not just burn the battlefield along with 
your enemy to save your smaller or weaker number troop and 
avoid contact with the enemy. You will have to use 
ROTK-5 way of doing things such as changing formation, 
flank-attack and confusion.

Immortal-wanders usually don't stay long with you so 
once you have them or before you recruit them you have 
to plan out how best to use them for your campaign 
otherwise they will leave and wander around China without 
you, which is what they like to do all the time. They are 
called wanders for a reason you know. LOL

In you set of 10 officers in each city try to recruit 
extra soldiers for these Immortal-wanders before you 
recruit them, so once you recruit them you can assign 
maximum troop into them and use them for attacking your 
enemy neighbors in you campaign plan. Yes, I recommend 
you have a plan unless you are good at this game.

I personally will recruit at least 3 immortal wanders 
and assign a rank-title into them if I can and use them 
as advisers to attack my enemy neighbors or defense 
against an enemy. Many of these immortal-wanders have 
the witchcraft and illusion skills which is perfect for 
confusing  multiply enemy units in one go and use my 
spear-formation to charge into them to destroy them 
quickly. Another bonus with all immortal-wanders is 
they have all the formation types and their experience 
is usually full since they have all the skills. They 
are pretty invincible in battlefield when they confusing 
all your enemy units and heal all you friendly units 
in battle. Your enemy simply have no chance when coming 
to stopping their  confusion and are usually sitting 
duck fleeing from the battlefield or get confused 
and capture by you.

14. Tactic or special-skills

Each ROTK-5 officers can have up to 6 skills in their 
special skill list. The below will give a brief 
description on each of them.

??? = Fire:
*   Can be use on sunny and cloudy weather. 
*   Can burn the 4 square block around your unit.
*   Doesn't cost any energy points.
*   Will give your officer 25 experiences points up 
        on successful in using the skills.
*   It will usually work better in sunny day.

篌? = Ambush:
*   Cost 30 energy points.
*   Can be use in a distance of 4 block away on an 
    enemy that position themselves in the forest area.
*   Will give your officer 150 experiences points up on 
    successful in using the skills.
*   Will give your officer 50 experiences points up on 
    fail in using the skills.
*   If successful perform on enemy unit, their unit get 
    confused, lose 2000 to 2500 soldiers, solider lose 
    some moral points. However if they only lose within 
    10 moral points or less, they may not get into the 
    confuse state.

羞隙恒 = Confusion
*   Doesn't use any energy points.
*   Can be use within the 4 square block around your unit.
*   Doesn't cost any energy points.
*   Will give your officer 150 experiences points up on 
successful in using the skills.
*   Will give your officer 25 experiences points up on 
    fail in using the skills.
*   If successful perform on enemy unit, their unit get 
    confused and solider lose some moral points. However 
    if they only lose within 10 moral points or less, 
    they may not get into the confuse state.

??荐? = Infighting/Provoke
*   Doesn't use any energy points.
*   Can be use within the 4 square block around your unit.
*   Will give your officer 200 experiences points up on 
    successful in using the skills.
*   Will give your officer 50 experiences points up on 
    fail in using the skills.
*   If successful performing this action, two enemy 
    unit attack either and lose 10 moral points.
*   This Infighting is called provoke in Romance Of 
    Three Kingdoms 4.

??? = Recover
*   Doesn't use any energy points.
*   Can be use within the 4 square block around your unit. 
    Use in friendly troop unit that is in the confuse 
    state. However if unit is in no formation state 
    like stuck in the wet-ground it can not be use to 
    recover friendly unit.
*   Will give your officer 100 experiences points up 
    on successful in using the skills.
*   Will give your officer 100 experiences points up on 
    fail in using the skills.
*   In the game it say it will cost 35 energy points, 
    however in test no energy point is deducted. Could 
    be a programming bug.

羯?? = Extinguishing Fire 
*   Cost 30 energy points.
*   Can be use within the 4 square block around your unit.
*   Will give your officer 150 experiences points up on 
    success in using the skills.
*   Will give your officer 150 experiences points up on 
    fail in using the skills.

腑?? = Rain
*   Cost 20 energy points.
*   Change weather to rain in the battlefield.
*   Will give your officer 150 experiences points up on 
    success in using the skills.
*   Will give your officer 25 experiences points up on 
    fail in using the skills.
*   Can extinguishing large fire in the battlefield.

紊?? = Weather
*   Cost 20 energy points.
*   Will give your officer 200 experiences points up 
    on success in using the skills.
*   Will give your officer 200 experiences points up on 
    fail in using the skills.
*   Can change battlefield weather.

藜??? = Inspire Moral
*   Cost 25 energy points.
*   Will give your officer 150 experiences points up on 
    success in using the skills.
*   Will give your officer 150 experiences points up on 
    fail in using the skills.
*   Inspire and rise 4 friendly troop units moral 
    by 15 points.

羶?? = Encourage
*   Cost 60 energy points.
*   Will give your officer 200 experiences points up on 
    success in using the skills.
*   Will give your officer 200 experiences points up 
    on fail in using the skills.
*   Inspire and rise all friendly troop units 
    moral by 20 points.

?順? = Drop Rocks
*   Cost 30 energy points.
*   Will give your officer 200 experiences points up on 
    success in using the skills.
*   Will give your officer 200 experiences points up on 
    fail in using the skills.
*   Can drop rocks on enemy on unit position around 
    the 4 block  around your unit.
*   If successful perform on enemy unit, can up to 
    2500 soldiers or 50% of enemy solider with in the 
    unit may get injure.

?醇? = Drop Sands
*   Cost 50 energy points.
*   Can be use within the 4 square block around your unit. 
    Can be done on multiple units all at the same time.
*   Will give your officer experiences points up on 
    success in using the skills as follow:
    -   150 experiences points on one enemy unit.
    -   250 experiences points on two enemy units.
    -   350 experiences points on three enemy units.
*   Will give your officer 0 experiences points up on fail 
    in using the skills.
*   No effect on moral.

羂頑? = Water Tactic
*   Cost 50 energy points.
*   Can be use within the 4 square block around your unit. 
    Can be done on multiple units all at the same time.
*   Will give your officer experiences points up on 
    success in using the skills as follow:
    -   150 experiences points on one enemy unit.
    -   250 experiences points on two enemy units.
    -   350 experiences points on three enemy units.
*   Will give your officer 0 experiences points up on fail 
    in using the skills.
*   Enemy unit lose up 2500 to 3000 soldiers. 
    No injure troop, all troop is destroy rather than injure.

???? = Divination
*   Cost 50 energy points.
*   Will give your officer 300 experiences points up on 
    success in using the skills.
*   Will give your officer 300 experiences points up on 
    fail in using the skills.
*   Predict what enemy may do and what weather event 
    for the next 2 days. Sometime it will cause random 
    events such as increase officer intelligence, cause 
    enemy unit to retreat, decrease enemy officer life 
    span. Can predict good or bad fortune in this 
    battle, if good outcome moral increase and else 
    bad outcome troop moral decrease. May cause random 
    lightning on unit in the battlefield, can be your 
    friendly unit or enemy unit that get damage, 
    however any unit that got lightning strike their 
    unit officer energy level will be zero.
*   This special-skill is rarely tested, it is very 
    unpredictable, your own unit may get lightning 
    strike. Therefore it is not very useful in battle. 
    The name sound good, but practically it is useless.

絋?茵? = Witchcraft
*   Cost 60 energy points.
*   Can be use within the 4 block distances around your unit.
*   Will give your officer experiences points up on 
    success in using the skills as follow:
    -   150 experiences points on one enemy unit.
    -   250 experiences points on two enemy units.
    -   350 experiences points on three enemy units.
*   Will give your officer 0 experiences points up on fail 
    in using the skills.
*   Enemy unit lose up 2200 to 2600 soldiers. 
    No injure troop, all troop is destroy rather 
    than injure.
*   Lose 10 to 20 moral points in success.

綛肢? = Illusion
*   Cost 60 energy points.
*   Can be use within the 4 block distances around your 
    unit.
*   Will give your officer experiences points up on 
    success in using the skills as follow:
    -   150 experiences points on one enemy unit.
    -   250 experiences points on two enemy units.
    -   350 experiences points on three enemy units.
*   Will give your officer 0 experiences points up 
    on fail in using the skills.
*   Enemy unit lose up to 3000 soldiers. No injure 
    troop, all troop is destroy rather than injure.
*   Multiply enemy unit get get confused.
*   This is the best special-skill in the game it can 
    confuse large number of enemy units and cause them 
    to lose solider up on success performing it.

羃紫?? = Self-Heal
*   Cost 35 energy points.
*   Will give your officer 150 experiences points up on 
    success in using the skills.
*   Will give your officer 150 experiences points up on 
    fail in using the skills.
*   All 4 block of friendly units and your unit 
    performing the action get some of their injure 
    solider healed.

篁?茵? = immortal-skill
*   Cost 50 energy points.
*   Heal all friendly units in the battlefield.
*   Add 10 moral points.
*   Every unit it heal, the officer get 100 point 
    of experiences.
*   Randomly cause some of your unit to have a 2nd 
    turn in one day.
*   This is the 2nd best special-skill, it heal all 
    your units injured troop and give you a second
    turn in battle.

??? = Chase-Attack
*   Cost 25 energy points.
*   Add 10 movement points to your unit for one turn.

    - In flat-ground-type-formation walking on road: 
        > 1 block will cost 2 points on flat ground.
        > 1 block will cost 4 points on forest ground.
        > 1 block will cost 5 points on mountain ground.
        > 1 block will cost 6 points on wet ground.
        > 1 block will cost 8 points on water ground.

    - In mountaion-ground-type-formation walking on forest: 
        > 1 block will cost 2 points on mountain ground.
        > 1 block will cost 4 points on road ground.
        > 1 block will cost 5 points on flat ground.
        > 1 block will cost 6 points on wet ground.
        > 1 block will cost 8 points on water ground.

    - In water-ground-type-formation walking on water: 
        > 1 block will cost 2 points on wet ground.
        > 1 block will cost 4 points on road ground.
        > 1 block will cost 5 points on flat ground.
        > 1 block will cost 6 points on forest ground.

    greatly increase injures on enemy compare to normal 
    arrow, and increase effectiveness up 50%.

*   Randomly shoot any unit around it and even friendly 
    unit made get shoot at.
*   Will give your officer 100 experiences points up on 
    success in using the skills.
*   Will give your officer 100 experiences points up on 
    fail in using the skills.
*   May even cause fire on unit in sunny or cloudy days.

薑?? = Horse-Archery
*   Officer that have Horse-Archery can perform archery 
    shoot after they move in the battlefield and may 
    cause fire onto enemy unit that they shoot at.

絅?? = Rouse
*   Cost 30 energy points.
*   Attack any unit around the 4 block around it. 
    Best to be when unit is surround by all 4 sides.
*   Will give your officer 100 to 400 experiences points 
    up on success in using the skills.
*   Will give your officer 100 to 400 experiences 
    points up on fail in using the skills.

絽?? = Set-formation
*   Cost 0 energy points. No energy cost
*   Can change your own unit or any friendly unit with 
    your faction.
*   No experience given up on success or fail.

綣決? = Force-march
*   Arrived in the battlefield 5 days early.

??荐? = Backfire
*   Energy cost unknown.
*   Experience gain unknown.
*   When enemy use fire, Confusion, or 
    Infighting/Provoke skill onto your unit, it will 
    backfire back on them, so the skill action will 
    not harm your unit, but backfire onto them and 
    cause them to perform the skill back into themselves.
*   I once have Guan-Yu with Backfire skill, and 
    someone try to use some skill-tactic on me, and it 
    backfire and the tactic harmed them instead. LOL

羂雁? = Water-God
*   No energy cost.
*   Make your officer troop unit be very effective in 
    water and rain battle.
*   When other officer use water-skill on your unit, your 
    water-dragon-god will protect you and you will 
    not get harm.
*   I personally saw a few times when Sun-Qian officers 
    use the water-tactic on my unit and a dragon came 
    out and blocked the water-tornado on water.

?ょ? = Rattan Armor
*   No energy cost.
*   Just as the Three-kingdoms novel both melee 
    and archery attack is useless on them, and can be 
    good for movement on water ground as well.
*   However just like the novel it is bad again fire, 
    any enemy use fire on officer that have Rattan 
    Armor will have 100% accuracy.
*   During test, when unit is in non-water formation 
    the Rattan Armor will add 1 block extra to 
    your movement, however with water formation no 
    extra movement block was added.

羃??? = Calm
*   No energy cost.
*   Base on the game explanation, skills such as 
    confusion and  Infighting/Provoke will not work on 
    them. However fire are not sure in test and ambush 
    are not sure you will get confuse or not.
*   However it cannot protect against 篌??ambush, 綛肢?/Illusion, 
    and 絋?茵?/Witchcraft skills.

?≦ = Unparalleled
*   No energy cost.
*   Base on the game legend story explanation. 
    You can attack one enemy unit with multiply units 
    at the same time. However on test time no 
    simultaneous worked.
*   The name of the skill sound like making the officer 
    invincible in Chinese. Both Zhang-Fei and Lu-Bu 
    have it in the game, so I will assume having this 
    skill will in your battle effective increase 
    somehow. However not sure how on test time.

??絨? = Return Archery
*   No energy cost.
*   As long as your formation or officer have the 
    archery range distance and your unit didn't 
    got destroy on enemy firing arrows at your 
    unit, any archery fire at you will be fire 
    back onto them after you receive it.

??膊 = Long-Distance-Archery
*   No energy cost.
*   Base on your formation archery range, you 
    will add one extra block distance on your 
    archery range.

15. Wall special tactics
============================================================
In ROTK-5 or ROTK-5PUK you will wonder why do I 
brother building up my walls when my troop cannot 
even sit behind or on top of the walls in battles 
for any defense purposes. Well to answer this question 
ROTK-5 have walls tactic skill that you can use if 
you build up your wall well.

Wall special skills 3 requirements:
1)  Empire fame is 900 or over;
2)  Wall built to 800 or over can use Fire-Wall skill,
    Wall built to 900 or over can use Fire-System skill,
    and Wall built to 950 or over can use Wall-Lightning 
    skill.
3) Your officer/ruler with 900 fame must sit on the 
    castle and wait for  the enemy to come to you. 
    They cannot position themselves outside the 
    castle to use fire or lightning skills.

    Notes:  This have nothing to do with the 
            economy, farm, or public-loyalty level. 
            Just your wall and fame and your officers 
            positioning on the castle.

16. Conclusion
============================================================
As you can read from the above and by playing the game 
yourself, you see ROTK-6 sometime can be a backward version 
of ROTK-5. Because almost everyone you have in ROTK-6 you 
have in ROTK-5 except the  battle style and land-traps on 
battlefields by adviser in ROTK-4 &  ROTK-6. However ROTK-6 
battle style and campaign style allow ROTK-6 to overrun 
smaller ruler easier compare to ROTK-5.

In ROTK-5 AI is much more harder to overrun by number of 
solider alone. Strategic planning is a must, you are not 
allow to have over 10 units in the battlefield in ROTK-5 
except if your ally send their force of units into the 
battlefield. Therefore even if you are a big empire with 
10 cities or more, it is simply not that useful in battle 
because you cannot send reinforcement over the limit of 
units by the rule in the game.

However ROTK-6 do have other feathers that ROTK-5 don't 
have such as historical battles and more historical 
events, which ROTK5 hardly have any except for a few 
compare ROTK-6 and later ROTK series.

ROTK-5 is the changing point in Koei game style on 
strategies games, where now you are not just forcing 
on beating other rulers and conquering cities. Your 
officers personal experiences also come into effect on 
your empire survival. If you don't get them to work on 
your conquer cities to build up there experience points 
then you cannot use all their special-skills because it 
is not open to you to use.

Anyway hope this ROTK-5 guide will help you in your
