Rooties blue cheese out of business

Shortages have been a real thing over the past two years.  When you're in Buffalo and there's a shortage of blue cheese, we all need to work together.

Buffalo loves its blue cheese.  So much so that a lot of people have been having a hard time getting their hands on one brand in particular. When you order wings in Buffalo, you get blue cheese with them.  That's just how they come.  But if you want some blue cheese to dip other things in when you're at home, a lot of people in this area prefer Rooties Blue Cheese.

The problem is, that lately, some people are having a really hard time getting their hands on it.  For months they've been saying that there was a Rooties shortage.

Sadly...it's still a problem now.

So I did a quick look online...no luck.  Out of stock as I write this article.

Ok...look...don't panic.  There are still some places where you can get it.  I reached out on Facebook to see if any of you had found it.  Sure enough, there are some places where people have seen it.

Now, there are no guarantees that they will not be out when you get there, but here are the places that people suggest you look:

1.  Market In The Square - 940 Union Rd, West Seneca, NY 14224 (+17166758200)

2.  Braymiller's Market - 6936 Gowanda State Rd, Hamburg, NY 14075 (+17166492356)

3. The Meat Shoppe - 44 E Main St, Springville, NY 14141 (+17165924351)

4.  Hoelscher Meats - 5952 Camp Rd, Hamburg, NY 14075 (+17166492554)

5. Latina Importing - 1712 Pine Ave, Niagara Falls, NY 14301 (+17162840537)

6. Tops - Multiple Locations

7. Save-A-Lot - 6000 South Park Ave, Hamburg, NY 14075 (+17166498360)

8. Federal Meats - Multiple Locations

9. Save-A-Lot - 10833 Main St, North Collins, NY 14111 (+17163373871)

10. Pixley's Sure Fine - 81 Buell St, Akron, NY 14001 (+17165422511)

These are just a few of the places that people mentioned.  And again, that's just where they've seen it.  It could very well be there one day and gone the next.  But at least we know it's not gone everywhere!

I don't mean to cause a panic, but it's true - there's a Rooties Blue Cheese shortage going on. Tops and Wegmans are both sold out and are getting infrequent shipments of Rooties; they have no idea when it will turn around, when the shipments are coming, or how much they're getting (their words, not mine.)

You may ask yourself "are the Bills playing poorly because this guy hasn't been eating wings with Rooties?" Astute question - the Sundays that I have had Rooties & wings, the Bills have won. The Sundays I haven't had Rooties & wings, the Bills have lost. I'll let you guys decide.

Anyway, I've resigned myself to the fact that I probably need to make my own at this point. Does anyone have a good go-to imitation recipe? I tried searching and came up with plenty of recipes, but none of them directly mentioned Rooties, and that makes me suspicious that they're more like a blue cheese dressing than Rooties.

EDIT: I just got a notification about the following comment from /u/Rootiesblue which appears to be a newly created account. I have no clue whether that's a legitimate account or whether it's someone trolling, but I'm guessing that their comment got deleted because they included a phone number. My bet is that Reddit and/or the admins filter out numbers to avoid doxxing or bots listing bad numbers. Anyway, here's the comment excluding the phone number. FYI there is a Rooties website with a number, so they could probably confirm this info if anyone really wants to call them.

Rooties foods would like to apologize as shipping has been a nightmare in current times please feel free to contact Sandy at <redacted> anytime regarding Rooties as store receiving shipments

I'm originally from Buffalo and never tried Rootie's while I was there. I saw that this was available on Amazon so I decided to give it a try, cost be damned. I live out here in the Pacific NW and enjoy my wings on Sunday while watching the Bills play so my wife & I gave Rootie's a go against Marie's Chunky Bleu Cheese dressing. I'm sticking with Marie's. The Rootie's was unexpectedly on the sweet side and not as 'bleu' as I had hoped. It was okay when I dipped the Frank's Red Hot doused wings in it but otherwise was 'meh'. Definitely too sweet for the celery sticks. Just my opinion; others may rave about it and I am certainly a Buffalo nostalgic type of guy but I'm sticking with Marie's.

Where is Rooties blue cheese from?

Rootie's has been, of coarse, a Buffalo area favorite since 1978. This is the exact same real aged famous gourmet blue cheese dressing that was served daily with every order of chicken wings in our restaurant in Getzville, a suburb of Buffalo, New York.

Who makes rootie's blue cheese?

Buffalo's Own Rootie's Famous Gourmet Blue Cheese.

Does Rooties blue cheese need to be refrigerated?

Keep refrigerated for best quality.
