Samsung s3 power button not working

Step 1

Before starting to remove the power button on your Samsung Galaxy S3, we recommend that you turn it off.

To do this, press down on the power button on the right side of the phone, then confirm on the pop-ups on the screen.

Step 2

Slide the nylon spudger across the width of your Galaxy S3 to lift the rear case.

Once it's slightly lifted, you can grasp it and remove it completely.

Step 3

Using the nylon spudger, lift the battery via the indent made to help you remove the battery.

Once lifted, you can grasp and remove the battery of your Galaxy S3 completely.

Step 4

Use the nylon spudger (or a fingernail) to gently push on your SIM card. When you release your hold on it, the SIM card should release itself from its lodging.

Then gently slide it out to remove it completely from your Galaxy S3.

If your Galaxy S3 has a MicroSD card, follow the same steps to remove it.

Step 5

Use a cross headed screwdriver to unscrew the 10 4.0mm cross headed screws.

These screws are circled in red in the photo, and secure the plastic protective cover of the logic board (also called the midframe).

The 2 photos are showing the same step, but from 2 different angles. This is to ensure you can see all 10 screws correctly.

Step 6

Using the nylon spudger, lever up the plastic cover (also called the midframe) from the frame of your Galaxy S3.

Now gently lift the plastic cover off and remove it completely.

Step 7

Now insert the nylon spudger between the speaker + jack plug block and the frame of your S3, and indicated in the first photo.

Then gently lever it up to lift the block, and then remove it completely.

Step 8

Using the nylon spudger, gently lever up the connector for the speaker + jack plug block in order to disconnect it from the logic board.

Step 9

Using the nylon spudger, delicately lever up the front camera cable in order to disconnect it.

Don't try to remove the front camera yet, it's still connected to the LCD frame of your Galaxy S3.

Step 10

Using the nylon spudger, delicately disconnect the volume button cable connector.

Step 11

Using the nylon spudger, now gently lever up the LCD screen cable in order to disconnect it.

Step 12

Using the cross headed screwdriver, unscrew the final screw securing the logic board to the frame of your Galaxy S3.

This black screw is circled in red in the photo.

Step 13

Using the nylon spudger, gently lift up the logic board of your Galaxy S3 so you can grasp it with your fingers, then remove it completely.

Be sure to be very careful of the previously disconnected cables, as they can interfere with the removal of the logic board. Don't hesitate to delicately push them aside to prevent damaging them.

Step 14

Use the end of the nylon spudger to gently push the power button out of your Galaxy S3's frame.

Release it completely from its placement so you can grasp it directly with your fingers.

The power button is now removed from your Galaxy S3, you can now replace it with a new one if necessary.
