The Open Range is proud to offer a unique firearms experience in the ability to hire and use select handguns, rifles and shotguns in our state of the art indoor firing range.

Upon purchase of your preferred package you will be provided with initial safety instruction as well as training in the use of each particular firearm you will be shooting. All shooting is done under direct supervision of a qualified range operator and all firearms are secured in a way to ensure the safety all people involved in the range session.

No firearms license or previous experience is required to use the public gallery however under Queensland legislation you must be a minimum of eleven years old to shoot on the range.

All shooters will be supplied with complimentary hearing and eye protection and enclosed shoes must be worn by anyone entering the range.

The Open Range also offers packages to suit larger groups such as birthday parties, corporate nights, bucks parties and more. Call us here in store to discuss a personalised package to suit your function.

Our Indoor Firing Range Packages

Springvale Shooting Range is open every day of the week. The facility, which includes a licensed bar, lounge and restaurant caters to all rimfire rifles at 50m. It also has 25-50m pistol ranges and a 10m air rifle range. The range hosts a number of competitions throughout the week. It also caters to corporate and group bookings, such as scout groups, birthday parties and community activities.

The 50m main range is available to the public and members. Unlicensed shooters are welcome to use the facility under the guidance of our experienced Range Officers/instructors. All visitors to the range will be inducted and given instruction on the safe handling and use of firearms. Loan firearms are available at the range.

Joining SSAA at the range will give you free range entry for that day.

Range Rules

Before heading down to the range, please familiarise yourself with the below range rules:

Ear protection is mandatory on all SSAA Victoria ranges.
Eye protection is mandatory for all juniors (under 18) and recommended for all persons using a firearm.
Closed-toe shoes must be worn on the firing line.
Excessively open-neck tops are not permitted on the firing line (including singlets).
The minimum age for shooters is 12 years old. Juniors (aged 12 to 17) require adult supervision to shoot and a consent form must be completed at the range by a parent/guardian.
No prohibited person is allowed to use the range facilities for shooting.

Eye and ear protection is available for sale at the Springvale Range.

Long Arms

Visitors without a firearms licence are welcome to come and try shooting a .22 rifle. The cost is from $57.50 and includes the following:
(ID is required on entry – pictures of ID will not be accepted)

Entrance into the range.
Public liability insurance.
Loan of a .22 rifle.
A target.
Ear plugs.
Approximately two hours of shooting (depending on how fast you shoot or if you purchase more ammunition).
Ammunition 50 rounds. Extra ammunition is available to purchase from $11 for 50.
Instruction and supervision from a qualified and experienced Range Officer.
Bookings are not required unless your group exceeds 10 plus or you require special needs or private coaching.

Pistol

The range offers a variety of packages for unlicensed visitors to experience handgun shooting. The ‘Come and Try’ pistol shoot costs from $220 per person and includes:

Entrance into the range.
Public liability insurance.
The use of three firearms (.22lr Beretta 87 Target, CZ75 SP-01 Shadow and/or Glock) and 100 rounds (50 x.22lr and 50x9mm Luger).
Option to add the use of a Smith and Wesson .357 Magnum for an additional $40.
Instruction and supervision from a qualified and experienced Range Officer.
Ear plugs and eye protection.
Booking are essential through the range on 8892 2782.
