oklouise, I have an open side cabinet which will go beside the vanity where I will store rolled up towels. So now it's to decide whether something free standing or on the wall to hang wet towels. As mentioned in my previous comment, I'm worried about my son climbing those bamboo ladders. Plus do towels dry ok with those from your experience? You obviously need to fold your towels for them to fit on the ladder so I'm wondering how effective are they? Thanks again.

Rimless toilets- Do they flush effectively?

    Q

    Comments (11)

Basically, the rimless toilet works in a similar way to a conventional toilet with a flush rim. The main difference is that the toilet without the flushing rim has an open or has no flushing rim at all. this means that the water does not shoot out from under the edge when rinsing, but rather shoots past the top edge of the toilet bowl without leaving the toilet Instead, The rimless toilet uses a special spray dispenser to distribute the water in the bowl during the flushing process. this distributor delivers the water powerfully and at some time with splashing to the right and left so that the entire toilet bowl is washed and cleansed. Most commercial cleaning companies preferred to clean this type of toilet because of easy to clean engineering design. The rimless toilet is easier to clean. With conventional toilets with flushing rims, there is much more area where various deposits can form. All parts of the toilet bowl are easily accessible and easy to maintain.

Where should we put the toilet in this small bathroom?

    Q

    Comments (65)

Hi AndrewJason, I love cavity sliders. they are there when you want them but not visible when you need the space open. Having said that they cost more, take a bit of wreckage to set up and in you WA case you will be wrecking brick walls to put them in which might be a stretch of mess too far. BUT you will need to weigh up if they are worth it in the end. I do not think the build will be too bulky in the kitchen/dining because it will be superbly practical on both sides and it maybe just a matter of what you are used to. Not sure about "Average Joe...…" we are all good at somethings, mine is plans, function, practicality, solar. Yours might be brain surgery, empathy for unwell folks, kinda or you make the best seafood lasagne in the world... we are all needed to make for a great world: and it really is that!!! Good luck with your splendid home: I think it is beautiful. And PS if you do make the best seafood anything I better have your address....!!!!!!! MK

Only you can tell if it's too close - have you sat on the toilet and used the paper? Is it just that you are used to a different position, or is it really awkward to try and get the paper when you're sitting on the loo? If the position of the holder is wrong and not just unfamiliar, you'll need to talk to your builder or tiler and see what can be done about getting it moved. Life is too short to be thinking angry thoughts every single time you (and your family and your guests) need to go! (especially since the "little room" is sometimes where we mums go to hide from our kids for a few minutes!)

I've been a builder here in Queensland for over 20 years, the method employed by us for fitting this fixture is to sit on the toilet and place it at a comfortable height / distance ( space allowing) never had any complaints. But if a client was not happy, I would move it, it's only a matter of replacing one tile, and a happy client is someone who will give a referral. It is the small finishing touches that matter.

Yes, I've sat on the toilet & I literally require to twist & bend foward quite considerably. Very uncomfortable & difficult when trying to pull down the paper. It is & looks much worse than the pics. Kiwiglynn, fitter definitely did not sit down on the toilet to position it. I have informed my builder but he stated he will look at it but I know he will try to dismiss it. This is one of many issues I've had with him.

Usually 800 - 900mm from floor, positioned 80 - 100mm from front of pan should be good for most people.

Both are lined up closely to the edge of the toilet bowl which is where I have mine and it too is on the LHS at this point. We have no problem extracting paper. They appear to have chosen that point to screw into the grout which is always a bit easier than drilling through a tile, Honestly you will adjust to it in no time. If you are right handed it's always easier to have it on the RHS but this was not an option in your case.

All you need to do is ask the builder to pivot it around so that the open end is facing you then it will be closer and you wont have to reach as far to access it. This will save having to re-drill any new holes.

It's actually too close & too low. Unfortunately pivoting it won't help.
