Turn off blue light on ring camera

Turn off blue light on ring camera

Yesterday I put in a Stick Up Cam in my living room, and so far I am liking it. Only thing I would like to do is turn off is the blue light when it detects motion. I am not seeing this in a setting. Am I missing something?

I have the same issue with my security camera, and I don't think there is a way to turn it off.

I don't have major issues with my cameras, and I like how they function. I had this set up through BuyerZone, a comparison site. It gave me good and available choices by comparing different brands of security cameras.

I don't believe there is a way to turn it off. The best thing to do is just a small piece of electrical tape over the light. I hope someday there will be a update to turn it off.

Good question. I just googled it and it led me to here:)

I have been using the Ring Camera both indoors and as an outdoor security camera for a while now.

I love how user-friendly the app is, and I don’t mind paying a little extra for viewing the recorded videos.

I am sure you have noticed the light blinking on the camera in different ways.

Sometimes it goes away in a few seconds. At other times, it glows for a longer time.

I recently came across the device glowing blue and didn’t know what to do.

Although the device was working properly, I wanted to find out the reason behind it.

There is no doubt that the glowing lights on your Ring Camera look very aesthetic.

But at times, the colors might be sending you a warning sign. Here’s an extensive guide on what the blue light means in each scenario and what to do about it.

In most cases, the blue light on the Ring camera indicates its state of functioning.

If the light blinks blue and red, there might be something wrong with your internet connection. You can restart your router or RIng App to fix the issue.

Why Is Your Ring Camera Flashing Blue?

If you own the Ring Stick-up Camera, there are a few more blue lights to look out for:

Ring Camera Blue Light Flashing During Setup

If you see the Ring Camera blinking blue when setting up the device, there is nothing to worry about. This is the camera’s way of notifying you that it is being set up.

As soon as the setup is over, the light begins to change to a solid blue, indicating that the camera is starting to function. Once it goes into its normal functioning mode, the light will go off.

You can also see the same solid light every time you boot the device. Ideally, the LED will stop glowing once the bootup is completed.

Ring Blue Light Flashing At Random Times

Your Ring camera can glow for a lot of different reasons. During set up or when you restart the device, you have an instinct that it is an indication for the same.

But when it does the same thing randomly, it is definitely going to be stressful.

When the camera is recording, you will see the LED glowing a solid blue. Another instance where your Ring camera displays a blue light is during a firmware update.

The light blinks for a few seconds and then stays on for around two seconds.

When you enable the two-way audio, you’ll be able to see a slow, pulsing blue light.

This is just the camera’s way of letting you know that you are speaking to someone else.

If you own a stick-up camera, the light will blink very fast in blue and red, indicating that an alarm/ siren is sounding.

But you will hardly notice it because of the alarm sound. If the setup has failed since the device couldn’t connect to Wi-Fi, you will see a similar LED blinking pattern.

Troubleshooting Ring Camera Flashing Blue

During Setup

The LED on your Ring indoor Camera or Ring Stick-Up camera will flash blue during setup, then become solid and go off as it starts functioning.

However, if the strength of your internet connection is poor, then the setup will fail.

Check your Wi-Fi Signal and restart the router

When this happens, you will see a red and blue blinking light on the camera.

To troubleshoot the issue, you need to see if there is an active internet connection.

It would be best to restart your router and then start the setup process once again.

Restart your App

If there is nothing wrong with your connection, open your app and then close it fully.

After you reopen the app, you will see that the issue has been fixed.

Check the outlet

If your device isn’t powered on or plugged in properly, the device will not be able to connect to the internet.

So, check if it has been plugged in. If the outlet you are using is found to be faulty, try another outlet.

After rebooting

The light will glow blue when you reboot the device. When the process is complete, the solid blue will go off completely unless you have activated 24/7 recording.

Check if the device is active

If the blue light doesn’t go off, there could be something wrong with your device.

Wait for about 5 seconds after the reboot or till the camera starts working properly. You can also use your Ring app to check if the device is active.

Contact Ring Support

Final Thoughts on Ring Camera’s Blue Light

Keep in mind that the Ring Stick Up Camera blinks blue fast to indicate that the Alarm/siren is enabled, whereas you won’t get this if you haven’t set up your Ring Security System.

In addition, the Ring Doorbell glows blue while it charges. For your peace of mind, you can always use the timeline feature on your Ring app to keep track of any changes.
