From West Texas A&M University

We serve West Texas and the Panhandle. We call the communities in the top 26 counties of the Panhandle our home. Hard working people who value individual freedom, effort and dedication live here, and those values fill our campus with people who want to see others succeed and who dedicate themselves to this high calling. We do this in our classrooms, lecture halls, auditoriums for performances and visual arts, laboratories, our offices and conference rooms, and the arenas of competition where our student athletes compete.

We are a strong community. A family. I know you would love our Buff Spirit and enjoy becoming part of the WTAMU family community.

Thank you for your interest in WTAMU. Please know that we hold it dear, and we will do our best to productively serve you.

This campus feels like a home away from home. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, always making sure you are having fun and exploring new and exciting places in Canyon. Most of the professors I have encountered are really charismatic and humorous; they make classes exciting and enjoyable even when you have one at 8:00 am. The campus itself is beautiful with lots of places for relaxation and hang outs. It is currently undergoing some new developments which will make student living a lot more reliable and dependable. If you do not have a car, it is a little difficult to venture out and explore what Canyon has to offer, as well as the food on campus can sometimes get a little repetitive with the most common foods being pizza and burgers. Overall, it is a wonderful and fairly safe campus full of joyful and funny students!

Start Your Review of West Texas A&M University

West Texas A&M has great programs for any major and they are very helpful with any questions you may have. I decided to attend WT because it was closer to home I am currently in school to get my bachelor degree in education! My advisor has been so great with my schedule planning and also being able to be flexible with my work schedule. I think it’s important going to a college where people actually hear you and listen to what you have to say. WT also have plenty of organizations you can join while attending school, including sports. My first year at WT I immediately knew this is where I belonged, if you are looking for a nice and amazing university I definitely recommend WTAMU!

My online experience with WT has been great so far! I am taking two online courses and the professors are wonderful about explaining what they expect out of the students and what the students can expect out of them. These professors that teach online are very understanding and are willing to answer any questions or help in any other way. Some professors have trouble teaching online with Zoom. In this case, they ask students to either email them or come on campus to receive that class material(s) that the students may have missed. Additionally, the professors are understanding if deadlines are missed due to unforeseen internet or computer issues and will work with students to make the situation is corrected!
