I heard Twin Fantasy 2011 and loved it, then Teens of Denial was OK, but after seeing them live last week i appreciated ToD and TF 2018 more. What should I listen to next? Do I go backward from ToD, or like listen to the numbered albums from #1? This boy has made a shit ton of music. Was his Nervous Young Men band any good? - appreciative and gay 27-year-old boomer who feels guilty that CSH makes him feel younger I hope im not the only one level 1 Good luck finding any of OG Nervous Young Men, because I haven't. I'd say Teens of Style is a good one to get into. It's a collection of some of his earlier works, redone and remastered. I'm a big fan of How to Leave Town, as well. It's a bit more lo-fi, has some synth stuff. It's a very personal record, but a personal favorite of mine. If you like that, then maybe Nervous Young Man (the album, not to be confused with the band). ETA: Some might disagree with this, but I wouldn't start with the numbered records. His songwriting has grown a lot since then. level 2 DM me for nervous young man. A few cool tunes but I think you'd be getting a more worthwhile experience listening to later albums because the songwriting as well as musical arrangements improved a lot post Twin Fantasy (2011). Personally I would suggest since you're familiar with both versions of Twin Fantasy, you use those two as bookends and check out everything in between them, either you go backwards starting from Teens of Style then How To Leave Town and so on. Afterward, listen to How to Leave Town, and if you don't mind the 2 hour length, go for Nervous Young Man. If it's too long, head to Monomania, then My Back Is Killing Me Baby. If you're not interested in this whole line, pick for yourself! :) I found that starting at TF 2018 and then going to 3 got me more interested in the numbered albums than I was expecting, so it's not bad to start there. 1 and 2 are super rough, though. level 1 I would start with 1 Trait High, their rookie album, 10/10. level 1 How To Leave Town > Teens of Style (their "greatest hits" compilation) > TF 2018 > Nervous Young Man > Monomania (includes lots of ToS songs but somewhat different and some exclusive songs that are GREAT) listen to them in that order level 1 If you really liked the story/concept found in TF, you can find some more of that in Monomania. It's still lofi like 2011 TF but with more electronic elements and a little more refined sound wise. Aside from that definitely How To Leave Town, and if you're hooked on CSH than check out the other shit. Don't check out Nervous Young Men, it's not very good, even more lofi than the numbered albums, and Will wasn't a very good song writer yet. He was in high school trying to write somewhat poppy rock songs to try to "make it" or at least get some attention. He had yet to start experimenting to find his own style. If you're really curious about the Nervous Young Men stuff, the best songs from that time have been remade as CSH songs. 1 1.Car Seat Headrest1 (2010)this is pretty good. i like it quite a bit, it has a really neat feeling to it and i enjoy it. it also flows pretty well for an album that is just a bunch of random tracks that kinda have nothing to do with eachother 8/10
