One Piece anime revealed Uta’s arc when Luffy parted ways when Uta was nine, and Luffy was seven years old. Luffy never knew why Uta had left since Shanks didn’t tell him the truth about Uta, who had left, and he revealed that Uta had followed her dream to become a singer. But Luffy believed that Shanks was lying and he was the reason why Uta had left. Luffy fled the scene and was angry at Shanks until he met with one of Shanks’s pirate members, who tried to convince him why Shanks had never revealed the truth behind Uta’s disappearance.

However, the Uta arc also revealed the relationship between Shanks and Uta and how Luffy met with her when they revealed their dreams. Luffy also fought with bandits from the mountain, believing he was strong. Luffy realizes he is not strong since he can’t defeat the bandits. But he was saved by one of Shank’s men, who scared the bandits and told them to flee the scene.
