I feel like they’re trying way too hard to make it seem like Garou can hurt Saitama.

Its more like they are trying to adapt ONE's statement that Garou is like an Anti-Saitama.

His reactions don’t feel like how he reacted to Boros.

Honestly it would be kind of boring if Garou was on pair with Boros and nothing really changed from that fight.

If it turns out he is getting damaged a little, it’s a massive tone change imand is indicative of bigger problems in the series.

Yeah, like, getting hurt by a punch that is equal to a nuclear bomb? Wouldnt that also make Metal Knight capable of hurting him?

If he isn’t hurt at all, he’s reacting very strangely, it’s like ONE is trying to trick us into thinking Garou can hurt him.

How is it strange? I think he's just very confused. The so called Hero Hunter actually acts more like a hero than a hunter. That same guy is saying nonsense like "to rivalize with the fist that did this, that'd be the fist of this other thing". He then wrecks his outfit that costs MONEY to repair and keeps talking other nonsense to act like a generic villain that is about to get stomped right after. Seems reasonable for his reactions to be uncommon.

Garou being so naive about what the concept of a villain or evil is beyond the cartoons he watched as a child is basically cute.

The webcomics version of Saitama beating him up and verbally dissecting why his idea of the ultimate evil is stupid until Garou loses the will the fight and takes his costume off is the best part of the webcomic.

Oh no, now I have to search the manga for some kind of "I bit my tongue!" gag to say "technically yes".

I'd say even if Garou reverses a punch, Saitama usually holds back when punching and wouldn't be hurt. Even if he serious punched himself, I'd say no due to the gag nature of the manga.
