When does Girl Scout Cookie season end 2022

Depending on where you live you may be able to start purchasing Girl Scout Cookies. The Girl Scout Cookie Program is just one of the many leadership activities Girl Scouts take part in throughout the year.

For that reason connoisseurs and those that want to contribute to their local council or a Girl Scout they know, only have a six to eight week window when they can purchase Girl Scout Cookies. The Girl Scout Cookie season officially runs from January through April but varies by local councils across the country.

How you can find out when Girl Scout Cookies go on sale in your area

Girl Scout Cookies can only be purchased through a Girl Scout troop or girls participating in the program. You can find out when cookies go on sale in your area and check out what flavors are available this year using the online Cookie Finder. There is also a free mobile Girl Scout Cookie Finder app for your iOS or Android device. Customers can text COOKIES to 59618 to get more information.

Shoppers have the option of purchasing cookies online and having them delivered to their homes or picking them up at a sales booth in all 50 states as well as Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

This year starting in February, the Girl Scouts are teaming up with DoorDash to offer on-demand delivery in participating markets. To get updates on local on-demand delivery visit the DoorDash webpage or use the iOS or Android app.

What flavors are available in 2022?

The Girl Scouts website lists 12 flavors for the 2022 season, with several fan-favorites and a new addition. The Girl Scouts first announced over the summer they would debut a new flavor called Adventurefuls this year. The brownie-inspired cookie is topped with caramel flavored crème with a hint of sea salt and drizzled with chocolate.

Other flavors introduced in recent past seasons are returning this year, including the gluten-free Caramel Chocolate Chip, Lemon-Ups, S’mores and the Toast-Yay! Other flavors included in the lineup are Lemonades and gluten-free Toffee-tastic cookies.

To round out the list fans of Girl Scout Cookie classics will be able to get their hands on flavors like Do-si-dos|Peanut Butter Sandwiches, Caramel deLites|Samoas, Peanut Butter Patties|Tagalongs, Shortbread|Trefoils and Thin Mints.

The Girls Scouts are hoping to avoid a repeat of last year

The covid-19 pandemic has made for a rough two years for some of the 111 Girl Scout councils across the country trying to sell their cookies. In 2020 the season was cut short with the onset of the pandemic. Last year worries about covid-19 forced several councils to shut down vending booths out of health concerns.

Additionally, a report in 2021 about palm oil used to make Girl Scout Cookies being linked to child labor saw some councils boycott selling cookies. That, along with other potential factors, left 15 million boxes of Girl Scout Cookies going unsold in the 2021 season.

The wait for new Adventurefuls, returning Toast-Yay!s and longtime favorites Thin Mints, Trefoils and Tagalongs is nearing an end.

It’s been a long, difficult slog since that generous supply of Thin Mints and Samoas you stocked up on in 2021 ran out. But good news, Girl Scout Cookie fans: Your days of gazing wistfully into a pantry with nary a Trefoil nor Tagalong in sight are nearing an end.

Girl Scout Cookie season 2022 — so fleeting, so finite — is now underway.

While the Girl Scouts of the USA has yet to make an official announcement and local on-sale dates vary, troops in some areas of the country are now taking orders. (Ordering from others may not begin for a few more days or weeks; you can check the Cookie Finder on the Girl Scouts’ website for availability from a troop near you.)

The season officially runs from January through April — although, again, local dates vary — so don’t panic. There are lots of ways to get your cookies: the aforementioned Girl Scouts website’s Cookie Finder; download the free Cookie Finder app onto your phone and place your order that way; connect directly with a Girl Scout you know (or find one via the Council Finder) and place your order with her; or text “Cookies” to 59618.

Of course, in addition to ordering your old favorites, you’ll want to try the Girl Scouts’ new cookie for 2022: Adventurefuls.

The new cookies, officially described as “Indulgent brownie-inspired cookies topped with caramel flavored creme with a hint of sea salt,” were announced in August.

Food Network Editor Maggie Wong got an early taste. Her verdict? “They’re just like brownie brittle with a little something extra,” she said. “They’ve got the satisfying crunch of brittle and the rich, chocolatey flavor of a brownie, topped off with a gooey, indulgent pool of caramel. It’s loaded with lots of flavors and textures in a single bite.”

Now, finally, the rest of us can try Adventurefuls ourselves and reach our own conclusions. And yes, last year’s new cookie — the Toast-Yay! (“Yummy toast-shaped cookies full of French toast flavor and dipped in delicious icing”) — will also be returning this year.

You can find this year’s full Girl Scout Cookie lineup here — and of course feel good that the money you spend on cookies supports your local Girl Scout council and troops.

“Troops may use the money earned to fund a project that will improve their community or donate the money to a worthy cause,” notes Girl Scouts of the USA.

Our love of Do-si-dos is deep and real, but supporting the entrepreneurial education and efforts of these young Scouts is definitely the sweetest part of all.

Over the years, dozens of Girl Scout cookies have come and gone. A popular cookie, Thanks-A-Lot, was recently discontinued in 2021 after 15 years in the lineup. It was replaced by new cookie Toast-Yay, a French toast-flavored cookie dipped in icing.
According to The Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., these are the top-selling cookies:.
