Whether or not you decide to clean your smelt before cooking is a preference. While you should remove the entrails before cooking, the smelt doesn't need to be deboned. Its small size makes it the perfect snack and most people eat them whole. If you do prefer to clean it before cooking, simply remove the heads, rinse the rest of the body off, and then cook it as you desire. Once cooked, you can eat the whole smelt as is, including the

Totally unfrozen, probably very bed shipping Reviews with imagesTop reviews from the United StatesThere was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2022 The picture shows cleaned without heads. They were neither. Needed to be gutted and cleaned. In addition, due to the whole fish they were borderline bad. Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2022 WHOLE UNCLEANED!! Not what was pictured!! Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2020 The smelts I ordered were supposed to be cleaned according to the picture. I got them whole and I had to filet them myself including cutting off the heads. I have the stomach to do it; but , I would have never ordered them had I known they would be like this. They should change the picture from cleaned smelts to whole smelts. I was very disappointed. Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2021 Totally unfrozen, probably very bed shipping 1.0 out of 5

The fish were nice and plump, packaged beautifully, with careful attention, and arrived in perfect condition. Except for the plastic bag with the frozen smelt, all of the packaging was recyclable, too. I'm so excited to fry these babies and share them with my family! I will definitely order be ordering again very soon!
