You name your baby lilac heaven after your iphone 11

We’ve got a new song we’re obsessed with! Retro Gazing’s latest Song of the Moment is “Sweet Carolina” by Lana Del Rey. Off of her latest album Blue Banisters, “Sweet Carolina” is a lovely song that truly deserves to be on repeat, constantly. It’s definitely one of my favorite songs off of Blue Banisters. In fact, it might just end up being one of the absolute favorite Del Rey songs of all time. I adore it!

Our Last Song of the Moment: “La javanaise” by Serge Gainsbourg

“Sweet Carolina” was written by Lana Del Rey, as well as her father and sister, Rob and Chuck Grant. According to Del Rey, the song was written within 20 minutes, which is definitely a feat because the song is absolutely gorgeous.

While you can of course interpret this beautiful song however you’d like, it appears that Del Rey and her father wrote this song with Chuck Grant, who had just had her first child, in mind. While some people feel the song is very serious, there are also fun lines within that make it a bit less serious. For example, one of the best parts of the line goes:

You name your babe Lilac Heaven

After your iPhone 11

“Crypto forever,” screams your stupid boyfriend

Fuck you, Kevin

Iconic, in all ways. Go ahead and check out the rest of the lyrics, as well as more (and better) analysis of the song, over on Genius! Plus, take a listen to the song below to get why I’m so in love with this beautiful piece!

I totally agree, years was passed by lana talking by toxic men and total devotion to her pattern (like in the whole ultraviolence) anyways, but she decided to go deeper in that album, talking about sensible topics and FINALLY about herself. I literally love Violets for Roses, like, she just want someone who understands that she has her stuff, and "ever since I fell out of love w you I fell back in love with me" my Lord! And about Sweet Caroline, this song is a masterpiece. Along with Wildflower Wildfire, Textbook, Living Legend; songs that makes me get into Lana's world cause was written about Lana's priorities and wishes. Just lovely

Lana Del Rey Lyrics

"Sweet Carolina"

(Okay)
Don't have to write me a letter
'Cause I'll always be right here
Closer to you than your next breath, my dear

We love every hair on your head
Love you like God loves you
And you say that you're scared
Might be unprepared for havin' the baby blues

Baby blues, baby blues
If things ever go wrong
Just know this is your song and we love you

You name your babe Lilac Heaven
After your iPhone 11
"Crypto forever" screams your stupid boyfriend
Fuck you, Kevin

We love every freckle you have
We love you like God loves you
If you're ever stressed out, just dance in the night
If you get those baby blues

Baby blues, baby blues
If things ever go wrong
Just know this is your song and we love you

Pink slippers all on the floor and woven nets over the door
It's as close as we'll get to the dream that they had
In the one night sixties, and
Jason is out in the lawn
And he powerwashes every time things go wrong
If you're stressed out, just know you can dance to your song
'Cause we got you

If you get the blues, baby blues
Just know this is your song
It'll live on and on, way past me and you
If you get the blues, baby blues
You've got us, we've got you
So there's nothing to lose, and we love you

So don't write me a letter
I'll always be right here
Closer to you than your next breath, my dear
