Can you unlock Void Fiend on drizzle

Risk of Rain 2, the third-person roguelike that doesn’t seem to quit. Among the newest additions is the Survivors of the Void DLC, which introduces two new characters. One is the spiritual successor to Risk of Rain‘s Sniper character, Railgunner. But there’s also an entirely new character called the Void Fiend. While Railgunner is unlocked right from the moment you purchase the DLC, Void Fiend needs to be unlocked. And for you to do that, you’ll need to brave the Simulacrum.

How to Unlock Void Fiend in Risk of Rain 2

Can you unlock Void Fiend on drizzle

There are two different ways to unlock Void Fiend. The first requires you to complete the alternate final level of the game, which sends you to the Planetarium. The second method involves reaching Wave 50 in the Simulacrum, the infinite-scaling challenge mode in Risk of Rain 2.

How to Reach The Planetarium

Accessing the Planetarium can be done in two separate ways. The simplest involves cleansing the Void Fields, which are accessed by falling to the bottom of the pit in the Bazaar Beyond Time. Once cleansed, a portal to the Planetarium will appear.

The other way to access the Planetarium is by going to the moon and defeating the first final boss, Mithrix. Once he’s defeated, instead of defending the escape ship at the beginning of the map, you can opt to go to where you spawned from and pet the glass frog sitting on the teleporter. Doing so ten times will open a portal to the Planetarium.

Upon completion of the Planetarium, you’ll unlock Void Fiend, a character who plays a little differently compared to the other survivors. While he can heal himself, taking damage raises a “corruption meter” on the screen. Healing will slow the corruption, but letting it fill will change the Void Fiend into his corrupted form. This allows him to unleash heavier attacks on enemies and improves some of his combat abilities. It’s a balancing act that adds a fresh spin on the Risk of Rain 2 gameplay loop.

Survive to Wave 50 in the Simulacrum

As for the second way to unlock Void Fiend, you’ll have reach Wave 50 in the Simulacrum. This is the game mode introduced with Survivors of the Void DLC. And, if you’re not already aware, the Simulacrum is one of the most challenging modes in Risk of Rain 2. If this is how you plan on unlocking Void Fiend, you’re going to want to bring your best build. Fortunately, we have some ideas on how to reach Wave 50 easily.

Best Builds to Survive Simulacrum to Wave 50

When you’re approaching the Simulacrum, choosing the right character is what matters most. Generally speaking, you’ll want to pick a tanky character. Characters like Mul-T and Loader are good picks if you’re looking to tank damage in the Simulacrum; however, characters with invincibility frames like Huntress or Mercenary work too. It’s all up to your own preferences.

As for the rest, survival is key. You’re going to want to pick up any items that are going to help you survive in the first few waves. Good white items are things like Medkits, Mocha for Mul-T, Soldier’s Syringes for Huntress, and of course, Teddy Bears.

Upon completing Wave 5, you’ll be awarded a Green Void Potential. This can sometimes give you a red item. If it’s there, take the Ceremonial Dagger. Every time you kill a monster it’ll send out three daggers to attack more enemies, which will cause a proc chain of daggers. It’ll make it extremely helpful to beat the waves in the game.

Green item-wise, picking up Harvester Sytches, Ukeleles, and Predatory Instincts will help you not only heal on critical strikes but also increase your attack speed on critical strikes as well. These are good for characters like Mercenary, Huntress, and Mul-T. For Loader mains, you’re going to want to find a Berserker’s Pauldron. Since Loader’s Slam ability can kill more than one enemy at a time, it’ll allow you to get that extra boost in attack speed to fill up your barrier.

Another green item to pick up is Razor Wire. With the effect of the item proc’ing upon damage, you should be able to dip into the Void and use that damage you’re taking to help you get out of sticky situations. With this in mind, it’s possible to survive for longer in the void if you have the right items. Since enemies won’t enter the void, and after a short time, the void field closes in on itself, you’re going to need some items to increase your survival chances.

White items like magic elixirs are good in a pinch, but remember that they’re one-time use only, so keeping a few handy is recommended. However, if you come across a Void Cradle in your run, grab the Weeping Fungus. Since it allows you to sprint and heal, and will also corrupt any Bustling Fungus items you pick up beforehand.
