EBay verify bank account not working

FWIW, if your bank were not in the USA, micro-deposits would not work well, because of currency exchange.

If the micro-deposits don't work you can use other methods of confirming your identity.

I used my passport. DH used his driving license. (We Canadians are very very secretive about our Social Insurance Number. Our SIN is our private business.)

US residents can use their SSN or ITIN.

FWIW- I had a lot of problems with my two busiest accounts last summer, but when we finally got them straightened out , the money was promptly transferred.

And while this is annoying, to say the least, it seems to show that eBay/MP is working on being much more secure against hijacking, including hijacking of payment services than was true under Paypal.

Although transfers can take up to four days depending on your bank (not MP, it does seem to be the banks), usually the transfer takes less than 24 hours.

After thinking I was all set for MP, eBay ended my listings a few weeks ago because my bank account wasn't verified. That was a gut punch but turned out to be easier to fix than I thought.  So, I opened a new account. Thinking, "nice clean slate, easy link up, and drive on."  NOPE!  Several attempts have failed at getting the microdeposits to my bank.  The last rep I chatted with recommends that I open a new account (a different organization maybe??)  This should not be necessary at all.   I have spent a lot of time searching and reviewing threads related to this. I try to find current threads so I can get an idea of how many people are having similar problems. There have been 3 that the original post was early in 2021 but responses late in the year but, a moderator has ended responses to the thread based on the age. That makes it difficult to easily get an idea of how many sellers are still having problems like this.   It seems that many people have the same or very similar issues but, with so many eBay users, I wonder if the percentage of those of us having problems is not large enough to be of any consequence. We may be "acceptable losses" as far as eBay is concerned.  As for me, and as for now, I have been and will continue to ship products to customers that have paid.  That is fine for me but not for all sellers. I guess I have faith that it will get resolved eventually and, since the type of product I sell may be mission critical to my buyers, it seems to be the correct path for now.  I have money in limbo as of this writing and, for the 5th time, I will contact eBay and attempt a resolution after I post this.  I am posting this to get responses from others who are still having problems with getting their bank verified or similar issues.  By the way, I have had two payouts to this new account completed already.

I wasn't completely against managed payments but I'm seriously stressing and about to pull my hair out.

I sent my bank information for the bank account I have used for years and after a few attempts to upload documents, verify identity, etc. Ebay said it was not supported. So I opened a new bank account specifically for managed payments. Again Ebay couldn't verify the bank info even after uploading the requested documents. I couldn't even sign into my bank and do it that way. Once I put in my bank username and password I was asked to verify my identity by text but the phone numbers listed are not mine and is definitely not the phone number linked to my bank account. I double checked. I called the bank but they say they can't help. Go figure. So I opened another account and of coarse, Ebay can't verify that info either. In the last two months I have uploaded multiple bank statements and direct deposit forms, opened two new bank accounts and have contacted Ebay and my bank several times with no help.  An Ebay rep told me not to worry about it until managed payments was active. Then apparently I could change my bank information but what if it still doesn't work? And Why do I keep getting notifications telling me to update my bank info now?

Are you aware that PayPal has raised their fees quite a bit and it cost you more now to use them.  I know it was an easy program to use and we were all use to it.  So the change is very hard for many of us.  I completely respect that.

It seems you are in the same position as the previous seller that posted, so the links I provided would help you to better understand as well.  This hold on your funds has nothing to do with who the money processor is.  Meaning that even if we still had PayPal as an option, Ebay would have PayPal hold your funds to abide by their rules.

Being a new or returning seller is difficult at best in regards to access to your money.  I too would find that frustrating, but once you are past the requirements for that hold Managed Payments is pretty darn easy to use.  With more enhancements to the program due out later this summer.

With the current increases in the PayPal fees, you really will be saving on fees if you were to compare them with the Ebay fees.

If you have an interest to learn more about MP I'd be happy to help give you some information to review.  Once you get past the learning curve of the change you will likely be just fine.  But again I respect it is an enormous change and those are always difficult to accept much less deal with.

Why can't I verify my bank account?

Typos in your routing or account number can cause bank verification to fail. Double check your account information and carefully re-enter it. You may need to contact your bank to confirm your routing and account numbers.

Why cant I update my bank details on eBay?

Your linked bank account must be a current or business account. It can't be a savings account. We'll need to verify your details when you update any relevant information on your account. You can verify your bank account by logging into your bank, uploading a bank statement, or using microdeposits.
