So, I was playing ALBW and saved, then turned off the console. It had been working fine as always, as it should since I take extra special care of it. So I later try turning it on, and it won't respond. It charges, but that's literally it.
I'm upset, even tho I also have an original 3DS, I kept really good care of my 2DS. Never damaged, kept stored in a safe place away from dirt, dust and moisture.. like, I kept this thing pristine, man. So yeah, I'm frustrated. Anyone have any advice?

Let it charge for a while then try again.
If that doesn't work then take out the battery and put it back in.

Try removing the battery and reinserting it. It could be that the battery has come a bit loose.
You could also try removing the SD card and try turning it on without the SD card.

Next time use sleep mode instead of turning it off.

I'd call Nintendo support or look for a cheap repair place online.

Farming,
I admit I am not familiar with the features in the 2DS, but was it lagging on the main menu before this happened. I.E Where you can go from say a game to setting to eshop?

It happened to me once, but eventually came on so I use sleep mode now and charge it before it goes flat.

Sleep mode also has a chance though of not taking it out of sleep.

What to do

  1. Press the POWER Button to turn on the system.
    • If the system is on and the screens do not turn on, press and hold the POWER Button to turn it off first.
    • If the system no longer turns on, you may have a charging issue. This is usually indicated by a red (solid or blinking) or no power LED.
  2. Perform a System Update.
  3. Close the system to test Sleep Mode and see if the system functions as intended.

Situation not resolved

If the system still turns off or stays in Sleep Mode, it will need to be repaired.

Nintendo no longer offers factory repairs for the following systems:

  • Original Nintendo 3DS - Model No. CTR-001 - Serial numbers begin with “CW” or “CB”
  • Original Nintendo 3DS XL - Model No. SPR-001 - Serial numbers begin with “SW” or “SB”
  • New Nintendo 3DS - Model No. KTR-001 - Serial numbers begin with “YW”

Click here for information on replacement and upgrade options.

Repairs for all other Nintendo 3DS family systems are still available.

How do you force restart a 2DS?

Press and hold the POWER Button down until the system resets; this may take some time. Once the system is powered down, press the POWER Button once to turn it back on.

How do I know if my 2DS battery needs replacing?

Your New Nintendo 2DS XL's battery may need to be replaced if the device doesn't turn on when you press the power button. The battery is directly accessible under the bottom panel. For more information, refer to our troubleshooting page.

Why is my Nintendo 2DS screen black?

If Sleep Mode was turned on, press the POWER Button to see if the issue is resolved. Press and hold the POWER Button down until the system powers off. Then power the system back on.

Why won't my 3d DS turn on?

Hold down the system's power button for ten seconds for a hard reset, which will shut the console down. You can then turn it back on as normal. Should you notice the console starting to freeze more often, Nintendo recommends updating to the latest system software.
