The second outing of the HBO series’ final season saw the character, played by Maisie Williams, have her very first sex scene. Arya lost her virginity to Gendry (Joe Dempsie), telling him she “wants to know what it feels like” before they potentially die during the battle against the Night King. But, viewers were left questioning Arya’s age on Twitter. For those who don’t know, she’s 18. Williams is 22, the age fans think Gendry is supposed to be in the series.

Its official Twitter account posted a message highlighting the fact she’s 18. Williams herself has addressed the scene in question, revealing that she thought its inclusion in the script was initially a prank being played on her by showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss. This one is a little more complicated. Gendry is the illegitimate son of Robert Baratheon, which would place him somewhere in his teens at the beginning of the show. In the books, he’s said to be five years older than Arya, though the show seems to do away with that math since Gendry states in season 2 that he had worked for Blacksmith Tobho Mott for 10 years.
