How to roll down windows with remote honda cr-v

The main reason Your Honda CR-V's windows might roll down by themselves is an accidental press of a key fob button. If You hold the unlock button on Your fob, Your windows will vent, as a nifty "hidden" feature. However, a few drivers report finding this accidentally, and perhaps if You're windows are going down seemingly on their own, You're actually sitting on Your fob. There are numerous reports of this happening accidentally, some people even going as far as complaining to their dealership and to Honda. Truth is, there's not much that can be done because the issue boils down to user error. It's a feature that You may or may not take advantage of, but if You want to keep Your CR-V dry, You don't want to accidentally engage it say, during a storm.

No, it’s not a wiring issue but a MAJOR flaw with the key fob. Do a search for this and you’ll see this has been going on for years with hundreds and hundreds of Honda owners. If you press the unlock button and then it accidentally gets pressed again, all 4 windows roll down. This just happened overnight, we torrential downpours and my new car is drenched!!!

Twice found all 4 windows open and roof open. Happened both times overnight. Honda please explain. As others here have said there is nothing in the manual to explain it. And it is not "nifty" but a pain in the neck and a way in for unwanted creatures or humans. Not impressed!

This has happened to my mother so many times. She rarely drives her car and the key fob is kept in a cabinet. It happens when the key fob is in the cabinet and no one has touched it!

I have just discovered this feature on my first Honda. Here in Canada we have winter half the year. I found a lot of winter inside my car. Yes. I'm quite sure it's user error. I carry the key fob in my pocket and buttons get pushed accidently. I believe the term is 'butt dialing'. But, to not have a way to disable this 'feature' is really foolish on Honda's side of things. My first Honda and it will be my last unless this is fixed.

There is something wrong with one of the wires leading to them, causing them to open on their own. You will need to replace the wire.

We just had this happen when we used the remote start. We will be buying a remote shield to not only protect the buttons from opening windows randomly but from crooks scanning for fobs to steal your car.

OK, so it's a "feature." Nice. I once had the widows open for no apparent reason while going thru a car wash. Last night they were open again as some major rain moved through the area. This time I googled it and found this page. The owner's manual (page 98 for my 2020 model) does not mention it. Now that I'm aware, it won't be a problem in the future. But I should have been made aware when I bought the car.

It would be a feature if you could close them back. The inability to do so makes it a flaw.

This ‘feature’ is RIDICULOUS!!! I have experienced this twice so far with my 2022 CRV Black Edition and it’s upsetting. There is no rhyme or reason for it to happen. I have even ‘tried’ to get it to work but it won’t. It only happens randomly and sometimes I’m not near the car!!!

I get the half way venting feature. Mine are rolling all the way down and the sunroof is completely open. Keys sitting on a table each time. Has happened about 5 times now in the last two weeks. Has to be an issue with the vehicle.2019 CRv. Never happened the first two years I owned it.

This windows and sunroof opening after I have gone into my apt is bad. Luckily I went out after an hour or so to get things from my car. Was Shocked to see them all open. I had many valuables inside today that could have been stolen. Very dumb function if thats what happened. Am scared now to leave anything in car at all and I often am moving company stuff around

It has nothing to do with pressing the fob. My windows and sunroof opened when I was holding the key in my hand without touching any button. I even placed a thick cardboard on the unlock button to prevent this from happening. It's still happening. And no, it is not a nifty feature. It's can wreck the inside of your car and makes your car prone to thievery.

Is there a “fix” that Honda Service Techs can make to prevent CRV windows from unwanted openings? Owner safety and security is a serious concern!

My CRV's windows open by themselves. I bought the car in March and it's happened several times since then. I have no garage and I'm very concerned that my car's interior could be ruined at any moment due to weather conditions. Car's are our second most expensive purchase, and if our car's interior is in jeopardy due to this flaw, then Honda needs to rectify the issue. The 'feature' should be one that can be turned on or off and on some models and years it can't. This is my 5th Honda. I've never had a problem with any of them, but I'm not going to purchase another one since Honda's not stepping up to the plate and recalling or fixing the issue.

Happrened to me yesterday. I thought I was losing my mind. All 4 windows rolled down and the sun roof opened. We were sitting in a dog park. Not even holding the keys. I had valuables in the car. Not cool!

Happen to me last night. The key was not in any one’s pocket so it cannot be by mistake. It was one night of steady and heavy rain. What a mess. First time it happens to me in 5 years.

This happened to me yesterday. I came out of the mall and all 4 Windows and sunroof were opened! I thought someone hard broke in. I am not liking my Honda CR-V right now!

I took my crv in to the shop to have the services done. When I got home and tried to lock my car it wouldn’t lock or make the alarm sound. Then all the windows rolled down. I thought I was losing my mind so I handed the key to my husband and he tried to lock it and all the windows rolled down. When I took the key back to Honda service they told me the unlock button was sticking to the circuit board and there was nothing they could do but I can replace the key for $150. Not a happy customer!! This is my first complaint being I love my crv but this is a huge problem!!

It happened to me today. Got out of the office into the parking lot and found my Windows rolled down halfway and sunroof slightly opened. I panicked as I had valuables in the car. This isn't a safe accidental feature at all. I was totally confused until i did some reading. Not good Honda!

Thanks for the explanation! Wondered what the heck caused it. Fortunately for me, it happened when the weather was dry.
