A current-gen 6-core processor should perform well for another four to five years, which is when most PC gamers begin to think about an upgrade.Is the Ryzen 5 5600X good for gaming in 2022?If you're both an avid gamer and a workstation professional, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X and Ryzen 9 5900X are appealing options, as well as the new Intel Core i5-12600K, depending on the job. Just know that the i5 12400 performs similarly while being significantly cheaper when paired with a B660 board, and the 12600K beats the 5600x while being around the same price.Is future proof worth it?Long story short, future-proofing is unnecessary if: You're fine with playing newer games at sub-optimal settings. You mostly use your PC for web browsing, email, office work, and movies. You don't care about having "the latest and greatest."How long will a high end PC last?For most desktop PCs, you can expect a minimum three-year lifespan. However, most computers survive five to eight years, depending on the upgrading components. Maintenance is also critical, as dust is very problematic for PC components.Is AMD good for the future?AMD is best for (almost) everyoneThey're also more future proof since they feature greater core and thread counts and aren't hit by as many Spectre mitigations, which can degrade performance over time. Is Ryzen 7 future proof?Nothing is truly future proof! But if you mean useful for more than a couple years, then yes absolutely. The next console iteration (ps5 & Xbox whatever) will use hardware very similar to the 3700x, albeit with lower clocks. All good on the gaming front for years I'd say.
Is AMD 5600X future proof?The AMD Ryzen 5 5600X is less future-proof than the Intel Core i5 12600K, but it offers enough power for a mid-range desktop. With 6 cores and 12 threads, you can multitask smoothly. It has the same clock speed as the 12600K. The largest advantage is the energy consumption.
How long will Ryzen 7 5800X last?For games, you're probably good for another 5 to (maybe) 10 years. Performance isn't going to be as good 10 year from now, though, because games get more demanding over time.
Is Ryzen 7 5700X worth it?With its low $299.99 price tag, AMD's Ryzen 7 5700X is certainly an enticing option for any PC. Overall, it offers better value than the Ryzen 7 5800X, with surprisingly close performance for $150 less. If you're building an AMD system and are torn between these two processors, we'd highly recommend the 5700X.
