- "THANK YOU, MARIO! BUT OUR PRINCESS IS IN ANOTHER CASTLE!" Explanation The standard message for completing a stage in the early Mario games. Used for any situation in which someone must continue their search. It receives much mockery for yanking the player's chain; as well as sympathy for Mario's situation, that he keeps coming close to his goal only to have it pushed further away. The Princess is always in another castle. (Except in World 8-4.)
- "SORRY NOTHING" Explanation The message displayed in the Korean Mockbuster Super Boy in the same situation as the above.
- [?] Explanation Ever since the original Super Mario Bros., most blocks that contain powerups, coins, etc., have had a question mark on them. This indicates that they're supposed to be "mystery" blocks, the original idea being that when playing the games for the first time, you were never supposed to know what the block will have.

Super Mario Bros. 3:
- "Somehow, I don't think you thought your cunning plan all the way through." Explanation From a demotivator of Super Mario Bros. 3 with Mario trapped between a wall and a Goomba, beneath a ceiling that prevents him from leaping over or on top of it, and his Super Mushroom just out of reach. It also provides the page image for Didn't Think This Through.
- Mario can kill the Sun. Explanation In two levels of Super Mario Bros. 3, the Sun is visible. In truth, it's actually one of Bowser's men, the Angry Sun, and it makes a point to swoop down and ram Mario. Fortunately, it's not much bigger than Mario, and can be killed by hitting it with a Koopa shell.
  - Congratulations, Mario, you started a new Ice Age. Explanation Slapstick/Cringe Comedy-style sketch shows, such as Dorkly Originals and Oddshow, love to explore the implications of the Sun being destroyed.
Super Mario World:
- SA—DA—MA—SA—SHI—Explanation From an
  Automatic Level which gave off these lines for the chords. On Nico Nico Douga, whenever that portion of the song plays, expect these "lyrics" to pop up.
- Mario heartlessly ditches his faithful companion Yoshi by dropping him into a pit.Explanation In gameplay, Mario can gain extra height by jumping off Yoshi, even if this drops Yoshi into a Bottomless Pit. Platform Hell hacks are particularly known for requiring this.

!!!" Explanation From a Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins commercial. It proved so popular in its initial airing that the commercial
for Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 used the same "hypnotized by Wario" premise even though hypnosis doesn't feature in that game. Hudson Soft used the same premise when advertising Wario Blast: Featuring Bomberman!. Around the late 2000s/early 2010s, many parodies of the ad featuring other characters were uploaded to YouTube, with most of them being based on this
rendition featuring Weegee.
Super Mario 64:
- "It's-a me, Mario!"Explanation Mario's opening line on the game's title screen. It has since become one of his catchphrases.
- "L Is Real 2401"Explanation The fountain in the courtyard, which actually says "A secret star lies here" when uncompressed, was believed to have said "L is Real 2401" and for decades was speculated as a hint to unlock Luigi or that Luigi was originally meant to be in the game. This reached legendary status when, exactly 24 years and 1 month after the game was released, a character model for Luigi was found in leaked source code for the game.
- Purple Prizes
  Explanation Since Luigi is actually playable in the DS remake, other rumors began circulating claiming that this game had a different Secret Character: Waluigi. The fanmade "Purple Prizes" article is the primary source of this, with other rumors such as the black box on Peach's Castle on the file select screen also being associated with Waluigi's rumors.
- "So long, gay Bowser!" Explanation A memetic mishearing of what Mario says after tossing Bowser off of the boss arena (he actually says "So long-a, Bowser!"). This meme is often used today to criticize corporations
  for dropping the LGBT flag as soon as Pride Month is over.
  - "Bye bi!" Explanation When Super Mario 3D All-Stars was shown off, one clip contained Mario throwing Bowser... and all he says is "Bye bye!" instead of "So long, King Bowser!", as in the Japan-only Shindou edition of the game and Super Mario 64 DS. In order to keep the spirit of the mishearing "Gay Bowser" alive, people quickly started joking that Mario was actually referencing Bowser being bisexual and saying "Bye bi!" instead.

  - RIP Backwards Long Jumping Explanation As the 3D All-Stars port seems to be the Shindou edition based on Mario saying "Bye Bye!" instead of "So long-a, Bowser!", this means that the iconic glitch has been fixed.
- The Mario 64 Iceberg
  ◊. Explanation A chart from early 2020 ranking various secrets, theories and urban legends concerning Super Mario 64 by obscurity. Many of the examples on there, despite being preexisting memes, gained much wider circulation due to the iceberg, and are discussed below.
  - "1995/07/29 Build (DO NOT RESEARCH)" Explanation The lost Spaceworld 1995 demo, the mysterious nature of which is used as a basis for horror videos that parody the game's conspiracy theories.
  - "The Wario Apparition" Explanation Supposedly an apparition of Wario's disembodied head declaring "You want fun? Wario show you fun!" before he chases Mario down a never-ending hallway and presumably kills him

  - "HMC is the castle's septic system"/"HMC entrance room is a sewer".

  - "The Bowser Room" Explanation Supposedly a hidden area in the game; a plain grey room with a picture of Bowser (or alternatively, a window with the actual Bowser peering through it) on one of the walls. In reality, this was a joke started by Chris O'Neill of OneyPlays, who put together a fake screenshot of it
    ◊ when he was in school to try and trick his classmates, which was shown and discussed on the channel
    in 2017. Due to its inclusion on the deeper layers of the iceberg, it has become a common fixture in Mario 64 conspiracy theories.
  - "Every copy of Mario 64 is personalized." Explanation A theory
    ◊ that posits all of the urban legends and odd details about the game are the result of Nintendo using an adaptive AI to tailor the experience to fit each individual player, resulting in small differences between every copy. Due to the phrase being the very last thing on the chart, it became one of the most popular and frequently-quoted lines of the whole thing.
Super Mario Sunshine:
- "SHINE GET!" Explanation The Engrish message for picking up a Plot Coupon in the Japanese version of Super Mario Sunshine. Ascended in the American translation of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door when it gets squawked by the parrot in Chapter 4.
- Sunshine Bowser says: "Mario! HOW DARE YOU DISTURB MY FAMILY VACATION!
  " Explanation The voice acting in Super Mario Sunshine is widely considered to be hit-or-miss in terms of quality, with this line in particular standing out for coming out of nowhere (rapidly changing the tone of the cutscene up to that point, as though it just remembered that it was supposed to be leading into the Final Boss fight at the last second and tried to switch from "humorous" to "epic" way too quickly) and being delivered somewhat awkwardly. (The fact that it's immediately followed by a stock Kaiju growl (the exact same one used for Bowser's roars in Super Mario 64) that sounds somewhat halfhearted doesn't help.) note The fandom's lukewarm response to the voice acting in Super Mario Sunshine probably goes a long way to explaining Nintendo's decision to switch from voice acting to voice grunting in later Mario titles, including Super Mario Sunshine's direct successors (Super Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Galaxy 2, and Super Mario Odyssey).
- "I'm a chuckster!" Explanation Said by the Chucking Piantas in the infamously difficult Pianta Village secret level. Since they throw you immediately after you talk to them, if you positioned Mario poorly, this line becomes a Pre-Mortem One-Liner. It initially gained popularity thanks to Chuggaaconroy's playthrough of Sunshine, but grew even more popular following the release of Super Mario 3D All-Stars, with a new generation discovering the Pianta Village secret level and making many memes about it.
  - Platforms-a-Plenty!
    Explanation The Ear Wormy acapella song that plays during said Nintendo Hard secret levels, which has become somewhat memetic due to its catchiness clashing with the brutalness of some of the levels.
- "Mama? Mama Peach? I'm your...Mama?" Explanation The game introduces Bowser Jr., who is under the assumption that Peach is his mother. This is not helped by Peach's above line, which sounds like she has to think about the possibility (which could be attributed to her being confused about the situation). Because of her line delivery and not even refuting Jr. (though the game confirms that Peach didn't give birth to him), many players pointed out that it gave the implication that Peach had sexual relations with Bowser at some point.
New Super Mario Bros.:
- Koopa Troopa DanceExplanation Some TikTok videos that became rather popular use the main theme from the series and have someone act as a Koopa doing some sort of serious event, such as getting divorced or disarming a bomb, only to start dancing when the "bah bah" sound plays like Koopas do in the game.
Super Mario Galaxy:
- U R MR GAY. Explanation An unintentional "hidden" message found by inspecting the boxart/title screen of Super Mario Galaxy and reading the letters that glint with light/a star. It also evolved into U R MR GOTY.
- You can now play as Luigi. Explanation After beating the game as Mario with all 120 Power Stars collected, you receive a message reading this after the credits roll. It's since become a joke to say that whenever someone reaches the end of something or an area that could be taken as an ending, they'll receive this message (for example, someone being told they can play as Luigi after reaching the end of their lifespan
  ◊, or reaching the end of 2020 only to hear Mario thank them as he does at the end of the credits
  ).
  - You can only play as Luigi. Explanation Following March 31, 2021, the day where Mario is jokingly claimed to meet his end, the meme would then mutate into Luigi replacing Mario as the main character and official mascot of the series, thus granting everyone their wish of being able to play as the former.
- SOAP! SOAP! SOAP! SOAP! Explanation A mishearing of the Ominous Latin Chanting in the Bowser battle themes in Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel.
- Luigi talking to Luigi Explanation At some point, it became popular to take an animation of the NPC Luigi talking to the playable Luigi and dub music over it to make it seem like the talking Luigi is singing it.
- So... chunks, huh?
  Explanation A phrase said by a penguin NPC in the game that gained some traction on Tumblr around 2017.
Super Mario Galaxy 2:
- YA I M R U? Explanation Related to "U R MR GAY" above, where the letters with stars on the Super Mario Galaxy 2 logo spell out this phrase, seemingly as a response to the previous one. A less common version of the joke is "U R MI ALY", referring to recurring ally Yoshi appearing in this game.
- The inclusion of the Spin Drill item in the game prompted a number of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann jokes.
Super Mario Maker
- "You fuckin' make it then if you're so goddamn smart"Explanation A common response by some to people who say their level sucks. Also often jokingly said to be why the game was made in the first place.
SM64 - Watch for Rolling Rocks - 0.5x A Presses (Commentated)
: An instruction video created by pannenkoek2012, explaining in great detail how a fewest-A-button-presses TAS of a particular Super Mario 64 level works sparked an entire meme set of its own. Most of the concepts are old hat among that particular Challenge Gamer crowd, but this video introduced them to a large number of uninitiated viewers all at once, propelling them into memetic status.
- Half A press. Explanation The second half, specifically. The idea of a run pressing the A button "half" a time seems odd, but if the first half of the press was used just prior to entering the level, it saves a press overall.
  - T.J. "Henry" Yoshi.Explanation Near the start of the video, Pannenkoek shows screenshots of several Youtube commenters taking issue with the idea of a "half A press." Henry's comment in particular ("an a press is an a press. You can't say its only a half", from Pole-Jumping for Red Coins - 0.5x A Presses
    ) was singled out. He's jokingly portrayed as Pannenkoek's/Mario's ineffectual nemesis.
- Scuttlebug Transportation Explanation The Scuttlebug's AI allows its position to be manipulated by first deliberately letting it hit Mario several times, then taking a strange sequence of movements just outside the room it's in. This ends up being relevant at the very end of the route for a Goomba Springboard boost.
  - Scuttlebug Jamboree Explanation The narrator mentions you can't bring Scuttlebugs through doors, and jokingly says that if your dream was to bring all the Scuttlebugs together for a "Jamboree", you can't. The phrase "Scuttlebug Jamboree" is just a funny phrase, and has some nice memetic fame. Also, the narrator shows a clip of all the Scuttlebugs in the main room, but isn't that supposed to be impossible? (Answer: Yes, unless you directly edit RAM to put them there. Doing it that way is easy.)
- But first, we need to talk about parallel universes. Explanation Due to an oddity in collision detection, the level terrain repeats every 65536 distance units. The repeating terrain is so far away from the original that it's only accessible with glitches, and only comes up in weird corner cases like this, so it's called a "parallel universe". The segue into this discussion in the video gained a memetic status all its own.
- QPU aligned Explanation Since the game checks collision four times per frame, it's easiest to traverse parallel universes four at a time — Quadruple Parallel Universe. Since you need to get back to the original universe to finish the level, being a multiple of 4 universes away in each cardinal direction makes it easiest to return, and is called "QPU aligned". The reason this needs to be taken into consideration is that sometimes a route will take you out of "QPU alignment", so now you need to find a way back in…
- Hyper Speed Walking Explanation How parallel universes are accessed (without using the Backwards Long Jump, which obviously requires pressing A). Walking backwards in certain unusual circumstances will cause Mario to build up negative speed indefinitely, which can then be used to fling him through the terrain and into a parallel universe.
- De facto speed Explanation The "distance Mario moves each frame" isn't necessarily equal to his "speed". Slopes in Super Mario 64 lazily cut Mario's effective speed in accordance with their angle, but without regard to actual direction of movement and without changing the "speed" variable in memory. They mostly got away with it because if you're running straight up or down the slope, it looks just fine, but it has a significant effect on Hyper Speed Walking routes.
- 12 HOURS Explanation Since Hyper Speed Walking is only doable on slopes too steep to stand on, the first step requires spending a ridiculous amount of time building up speed. Since runs of this type are scored by lowest A-presses first, and actual time second, this is deemed Worth It.

Super Mario Maker 2
- "There, we added slopes. Now can you guys shut up and stop whining about it?!"Explanation Literally the first new feature revealed for the game were slopes, which were memetic for being absent in the first game.
- The Wii U KillerExplanation Up until the trailer for Super Mario Maker 2 released, the original game was the only reason some users had held on to their Wii U consoles. After the trailer dropped, many joked that it was time to take the Wii U off its life support since they now had no incentive to keep it anymore.
- Boom Boom is a mad lad. Explanation Boom Boom was referred to as a "mad lad," already a memetic phrase

- Extra Game Styles Explanation After the May 2019 Direct of Super Mario Maker 2 showed off a suspicious empty space next to the Super Mario 3D World style under this header, which is thought to imply multiple special game styles, fans decided to Photoshop several unlikely new styles such as Minecraft or Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (here

- The Indifferent Sun Explanation A Fan Nickname given to the Angry Sun in the New Super Mario Bros. U style, where it doesn't look as angry as the older styles, instead looking like it's contemplating life.
- Sans Eraser Explanation Mr. Eraser has a blue/white color scheme, somewhat violent tendencies, and a monologue on morality, all of which quickly led to Undertale fans comparing him to resident Fountain of Memes Sans.
- Koopa Car Horn Explanation Specifically, the fact that the horn sounds identical to the infamous MLG airhorn sound.
- [part] Gang Explanation For reasons unknown, a popular comment is to just take the gizmo, enemy or the like where you're standing and make a comment that adds "gang" to it, and that's all. May be to invoke Interface Screw, especially on speedrun levels.
- Bowser in a box. Explanation A negative way of referring to the common boss fight setup of a Bowser in a single room with infinitely spawning fire flowers. Not only is it non-threatening thanks to the infinitely spawning powerups, but it's also incredibly tedious since Bowser (especially giant Bowser) soaks up fireballs like nobody's business. The boxes are often hastily scrawled without taking advantage of scroll stop, so the background can be seen outside of the box and the camera freely scrolls around as Mario moves. While this was a common thing in SMM1 too, the increased player count of SMM2 has made this setup even more extremely prevalent.
- say sike right now Explanation An image of a sleeping Blue Piranha Creeper with the phrase above it, used to convey shock over an off-putting revelation.
- minecraft; the way home Explanation The name of a completely nonsensical level
  that ended up being played by Alpharad during a playthrough of Endless Challenge on Easy difficulty. It quickly took off in the Mario Maker scene because of just how little the name of the level has to do with the actual level itself.
- 1-1 with a twist Explanation While recreating the classic world 1-1 from Super Mario Bros. is not uncommon in Mario Maker, this meme is named after one of the most infamous examples from the creator YTSunny: a level where the only change is the presence of fire bars everywhere. This level has since become popular fodder on both Twitter and Youtube, with creators like videogamedunkey and James Rolfe making videos of them playing it. It even garnered its own entry on KnowYourMeme.
- The Slider anti-softlock room Explanation A common feature in troll levels is for the creator to trap someone in a room with no way of escaping save for figuring out a complex contraption that kills the player, while often having to avoid a stream of infinite powerups which resets the player's progress. A large number of these use the secret slide music from Super Mario 64 to drive the player mad on top of being frustrated that they can't kill themself.
- WAHOO! Explanation One of the predefined messages you can send in multiplayer is this. For some reason, it's primarily used to be sarcastic; for example, if you die in a silly way, or the level's poorly designed, or the match is incredibly laggy, you can call it a WAHOO moment and drop one of these.
- "Nice work." Explanation One of the messages you can send. Because of its ambiguity, it gets used for both genuine and sarcastic moments of praise.
- Lemmy's balls Explanation During experimentation videos with the 3.0 parts, a popular question was to see how Lemmy Koopa's projectiles interacted with various other Parts. However, since the projectiles in question are giant inflatable bouncy balls, fans started referring to them as "Lemmy's balls" when proposing an experiment (i.e "Can Lemmy's balls push down a P-Switch?") It's not hard to figure out why they refer to them as such.
- "Remember the Snake Block?" Explanation A phrase uttered in the Super Mario Maker 2 direct, followed by a long extended silence. Became a minor meme among fans shortly after.
- Little Timmy Explanation It's become somewhat popular to refer to really poor quality levels, particularly those with things just spread everywhere and no coherent theme, as "Little Timmy levels" or "levels made by little Timmy", as a tongue-in-cheek reference to how said levels are presumably made by young kids who don't know any better. In instances where good levels are actually made by literal children, they're sometimes endearingly referred to as "Big Timothy".
- "Nintendo, hire this man!" Explanation Whenever someone makes a really good level, fanmod, or custom song and posts it on YouTube, expect the comments section to say this phrase, or some variation thereof. Due to the prevalence of this comment, it's also used ironically for levels that are really, really bad.

Mario Kart series

"HI, I'M DAISY!" Explanation This is Daisy's line for when she switches from the driver position or when she finishes a race in 1st place in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!. Despite the line never really appearing anywhere else in the franchise, the sheer repetitiveness in this game alone made it a memetic given. Most people jokingly think this is all she says.
Rosalina is fat. Explanation Rosalina in Mario Kart Wii was the first ever female heavyweight racer, and has consistently been in the heavier weight classes. This is likely merely because of her great height rendering her unable to fit in normal-sized karts. The general heftiness of heavyweight racers has since memetically mutated "tall" into "fat".
Luigi's Death Stare. Explanation Mario Kart 8 has the characters stare at opponents they go past, but Luigi's is rather notable for looking sinister when he does it. This video
with Chamillionaire's Ridin' playing in the background popularized it, which even found its way onto FOX News.

Get Mario Kart'd Explanation The term originates from an infamous video
that had Daisy getting bombarded by multiple items, as well as getting bumped off the bridge of DK Mountain by other racers, resulting in her going from first place to dead last. The term has since been used to mock the often unpredictable and unfair nature of the games.
WELCOME TO MARIO KART! Explanation From the starting screen of Mario Kart 64, commonly used used when someone gets bombarded by multiple items, especially if you end up going from first place to dead last at the last moment via Blue Shell. This is frequently used alongside the aforementioned "Get Mario Kart'd" meme.
A common trend in the Mario Kart community is to mock filler characters like Pink Gold Peach and Baby Rosalina with other, ridiculous character names like Blue Silver Diddy Kong or Doctor Metal Baby Tanooki Mario. This trend has even begun to spread to the Super Smash Bros. community, due to the inclusion of Dark Pit.
"I'm using tilt controls!" Explanation One of the premade messages to tell to other people in a lobby in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, this one is frequently used to express frustration. Origins are unclear, but most likely it derives from the tilt penalty in pinball, in which the ball immediately ends if the player is too rough on the machine. It caught on shortly after the release of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, to where people who actually use tilt controls and use this message for its intended meaning get misinterpreted for the memetic meaning.
FUCK THE POLICEExplanation From a rather popular gif
◊ of a Mario Kart Wii player dodging a Spiny Shell, which then pauses to display the caption "FUCK THE POLICE". This was before Mario Kart 8 introduced the Super Horn, which negates most items, including the Spiny Shell.

videos, while only showing their playthrough on time trial, became memetic due to their ridiculously concise titles which make them impossible to search on a web browser and only make them appear on YouTube recommendations.
Where's Luigi? Explanation Mario Kart Tour has a rather large ensemble of playable characters, ranging from perfect-attendance members like Mario and Bowser, to less frequent but still popular characters like Diddy Kong and Dry Bones, to mostly weird or unexpected choices like Peachette and Pauline. However, one noticeable omission from the base game's roster was Mario's very own brother Luigi, who somehow managed to be excluded from the game in spite of four forms of Mario, two forms of Peach and Daisy, and two characters who haven't been in a single Mario Kart game prior to this all managing to make it in at launch. Luigi wouldn't show up until late October of 2019, a little less than a month after the game released.
$40 Diddy Kong Explanation While Mario Kart Tour is generally seen as an average-to-alright mobile game, one thing was widely seen as a complete joke: Diddy Kong, in addition to being available through a regular gacha method, was also available in a pack that cost a grand total of forty dollars. The fact that a mobile game has a single character that costs this much money was treated with derision at best. Many people, similar to the $1000 iPhone stand meme, pointed out several other things that you could get for the same price or cheaper, with the meme even getting a Twitter account
dedicated to it, and led to more variants such as the Fire Emblem Heroes Feh Pass subscription service and Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. Later became a Discredited Meme as the $40 Diddy was only a limited time offer and the 90 rubies, a premium currency, were the main value to its expensive pack, with Diddy as a bonus. Explanation The AI in the Mario Party series is so bad on lower difficulties or the minigames can be so luck-based that there are some minigames that the player can win without any controller input. It's traditional for the player's character to be Luigi while demonstrating this. This meme crossed over into Super Smash Bros. — people have even managed to have Luigi win by doing absolutely nothing against level 9 CPUs!
You're lousy! Explanation Waluigi's unlockable taunt in Mario Party 6 and Mario Party 7. This time, popularized by pokecapn's posse.

Stryder7x did the math, including accounting for lag. There's just something inherently amusing about a crash bug that takes four centuries to perform.

- Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass when Explanation During the events of TTYD, Luigi is on a different adventure concurrent to Mario's that occurs offscreen, which you only get to hear snippets of from him and his partners (plus a highly exaggerated book series). Many people have latched on to this great offscreen adventure and genuinely want Nintendo to release a game where you get to play through it.
- Doo_liss Explanation Doopliss removes the letter "p" from the keyboard in order to prevent you from guessing his name before you're intended to (after Vivian joins Mario). - Fortran. Explanation A half-Captain Ersatz of Mario from the same game. Was given such a name because of a Dummied Out and the letter "F" on his cap. He barely moves. While not as popular as characters like Weegee, Fortran was somewhat big in the YouTube Poop community, with "PUSH START TO RICH" almost always being referenced whenver he made an appearance.
- FOR AMUSEMENT ONLY Explanation What this game's "copyright screen" says, pointing out that you get no real money for playing this game of roulette.Origin of This Phrase The phrase "For Amusement Only" was an agreed-upon phrase among manufacturers of arcade games, pinball machines, and other parlor machines. It originated at a time when the United States had very strict gambling laws (as in destroy-on-sight levels of enforcement), and when written on the machine, informs authorities that the machine does not give prizes or cash payouts. This phrase is still in use today, albeit rare because it's become increasingly obvious what's a gambling device and what isn't.

It became a popular running gag on SiIvaGunner rips, and also led to the clip of Joel saying "GRAND DAD" being used out of context in some memes.
Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle: Peach is a "Badass Princess". Explanation A leaked document had Peach referred to, amongst other things, as "the badass princess". It was never meant to be shown to the public, only to Ubisoft executives. The phrase was initially used to describe why the leak was obviously fake — Nintendo wouldn't let any documents call Peach that — but once it was confirmed real, fans took to it because of how funny it was to see something official refer to Peach as "badass".
Mario and Luigi are dead! Explanation After character reveal trailers for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate had Mario and Luigi both die, the fanbase decided that, thanks to the lack of onscreen recovery and Offscreen Inertia, they'd been Killed Off for Real. Art, fix-it-fics, and general jokes followed.
- Luigi is okay. Explanation Nintendo's official response to the above was assuring gamers that Luigi was fine.
