Shadow of the Tomb Raider best pistol Reddit

Whether you’re an old school gamer, much like myself, or a gamer from the newer generation, then it’s a pretty safe bet that you’ve heard of Lara Croft. I grew up with her originally on the PC before she was on console, running through the jungle in that incredibly boxy graphics but they were the best that time had to offer. Long before she became the gorgeous bad-ass she is now!

With an arsenal of new weapons at her disposal, her adventures have only become more fun. Different variations of her bow, arrows, rifles, shotguns and pistols, which brings us to her latest adventure in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

I’ll be excluding the two utility items from my decision making. Not only do they not have stats, they’re just basic items that are meant for disarming traps, cutting through objects and climbing. Additionally, the weapons are fully upgraded with a great attempt to include one of each group.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is breathtaking thematically, these weapons only serve to increase the immersion offered!

10. Atlatl Bow

Starting off with a bow that can only be acquired from a merchant inside The Hidden City. Sporting a rugged, hand-crafted appearance, it fits snugly into Lara Croft’s arsenal.

Bows usually have a high drop off rate, meaning the arrows don’t travel that far. However, the Atlatl Bow defies such expectations with a surprisingly good range and damage. The fire rate does suffer for balance reasons of course, it’s pretty much a stealthy sniper rifle so it needs a drawback or two!

9. The Exiled Fox

The second bow on the list The Exiled Fox, having a more bone-like appearance. It’s actually crafted almost completely from wood though. Only available through the DLC of the same name; this bow has decent damage (not as much as the previous entry), only with a much higher fire-rate. Much like a fox when it hunts its prey, you yourself will be just as swift when taking down multiples of your prey. While getting down and dirty like any good Tomb Raider should.

8. The AB .45

Moving onto the next category of weapons we will start with the AB .45 pistol. You can only acquire this pistol by progressing through the beginning part of the story, making it one of the first default weapons you unlock from the beginning of the story.

This .45 caliber pistol is based off of the M1911 pistol. And ends up looking like it’s jerry rigged by an amateur with the components and attachments it receives through upgrades. That being said, looks aren’t everything. Having the suppressor attached, the accuracy being maxed out, the fire rate and reload speed above average; you can shoot multiple enemies before they even realize what hit them!

7. The River Hawk

My personal favorite among the pistols, it is the River Hawk pistol. The name sounds like it’s the twin of the Desert Eagle Mark XIX, as does the look. So it shouldn’t be surprising when I say that this weapon packs quite the punch when shot, but watch that recoil. It’ll mess up your shots if you’re not careful, making it a fairly skill based gun.

Along with every other weapon it also gets the “bad ass” look taken away once fully upgraded (referring back to the upgraded by an amateur look). Unlike the AB .45 you can only get this from a side mission in Kuwaq Yaku. So be sure to buy it, you’ll really want this pistol as an option throughout your play-through!

6. The J&D Model 27

The last and strongest of the pistol category is the J&D Model 27, that you receive from a merchant in Kuwaq Yaku. This pistol may lack in ammo capacity but each shot hits like a truck. Also, yet it can still make anyone feel awesome. Not just because it looks almost like a Smith & Wesson Model 29 Revolver, but also with its amazing stopping power.

5. The Vicar Mark II

Moving on to the rifles in the game, we’re beginning with the Vicar Mark II. Given to you through story progression and also one of your default weapons; the Vicar Mark II looks like your average assault rifle, almost like the FN FNC in real life. In true Tomb Raider fashion, its been kitted out with some guerrilla aesthetics.

Having all of its stats above average, this rifle is probably the most well balanced of this category. Any weapon that can perform decently well in all situations, deserves a place on this list. It can also be equipped with a grenade launcher!

4. The Wasp 11

Lara Croft has always loved her Sub-Machine Guns, lightweight close-quarter weapons with a versatile strength pool. The Wasp 11 is particularly potent, with a high fire-rate and controllability. At longer ranges, its damage can stagnate so make sure you’re only using it in the appropriate situations.

Found in San Juan, it even comes with the grenade launcher attachment, something rarely seen on Sub-Machine Guns!

3. The PN-TF 627

The PN-TF 627, also known as the Pontiff, is an LMG (Light-Machine Gun) that resembles the real life gun called the FN M249. Available through the City of the Serpent part of the game, it’s just like any LMG,; it holds a massive amount of bullets for its high rate of fire. Recoil can be difficult though, this is another skill based weapon.

With all upgrades, each clip allows you to fire up to 60 rounds. Exceptional at mowing down multiple enemies, you’ll find yourself using this weapon often!

2. The Taev 15

The second to last and also the final category of the list is the Taev 15 which is in the shotgun group, and a very promising shotgun at that. The Taev 15 has a remarkable resemblance to the Spas-12 shotgun, and much like the Spas-12, it too has an exquisite amount of deadly stopping power as well as very efficient accuracy in the game. Obtaining this shotgun is easy, through a shop in San Juan.

1. The WHWS-16

Having the looks of a USAS-12 shotgun, with its drum magazine holding a large amount of shotgun shells. As you likely know, the USAS series of weapons have a massive fire-rate. At close range, few weapons in existence are as devastating. Once again, you can buy it in San Juan.

Recoil-controlling attachments are recommended, you really want each shot to land for maximum damage. Having a death laser at close range does make the game a bit easy though!
