As someone who has kids that get sick with the common symptoms of runny nose, cough, sore throat, congestion and fever, I’m always on the lookout for new syrups, medicine or remedies to help prevent and reduce the problem whatever it is. I try to find more simple, natural, organic or as close to natural as possible to reduce the chemicals entering the body. So, when I saw this Vicks Children Cough & Congestion Relief medicine that’s free of artificial dyes and flavors, I thought I’d give it a try! You should always consult your doctor before taking any new medicine and should stop taking if you feel any adverse reaction after its use. Make sure to read the labels carefully and only take the recommended amounts suitable for your situation.First of all, this is a combo set, so there’s a daytime and nighttime medicine to provide all round relief. Both bottles come in the recognizable Vicks bottle shape that’s very well labeled with day/night graphics with branding, ingredients and description easily readable. There’s the normal dosage cup to measure the correct amount of medicine when taking it - please note: you should only take the recommended dosage with the cap provided.The strange thing about this combo pack is that the daytime medicine is recommended for ages 4+, while the nighttime is recommended for ages 6+, so if you have kids in-between it may be a problem. So far both the medicines work as described! The daytime non-drowsy medicine solves for cough, chest congestion and stuffy nose, while the nighttime drowsy medicine solves for cough, runny/stuffy nose and sneezing. The consistency is close to a light syrup, there’s no color (clear), pours easily and goes down smooth when taken. Taste wise, the daytime medicine has a strawberry taste which was OK, while the nighttime had the usual grape taste found in kids medicine – both were palatable, but nothing amazing. The medicine does provide some decent short-term relief for the symptoms described.Overall, this is a good combo relief medicine, at a good price point that tastes OK and works well.
