You will drive through an area called Red Canyon, that is simply gorgeous. Enjoy the drive, Bryce will be there waiting. You will be able to enter Bryce NP and drive the length of the main park road to the end and back, stopping at every overlook, and getting a feel for the layout of the park, and still get to the motel area at the park entrance before nightfall. There are at least a couple of overlooks that are trailheads for hiking down into the hoodoos that will be worth returning to the next day. Finally, from a photographic viewpoint, the best lighting occurs from mid to late afternoon , if using the overlooks. Report inappropriate content

Re: driving from Zion to Bryce Canyon 10 years ago Save You should include the east section ofZion on your drive to Bryce...meaning you can take the Canyon OVerlook trail and stop at Checkerboard Mesa on the way out so no need to do those as part of the two days in Zion. But they will extend that 2 hr drive to Bryce. Plus Red Canyon, plus stopping at one of the rockshops in Orderville. Plan half a day. Report inappropriate content

We have planned our trip in May at the time of the eclipse, so we will expect the park to be a bit more crowded.
