Why did Brutus not want to swear to an oath?

Brutus does not want any of them to swear an oath because he believes that if their motives are “weak” enough to warrant an oath (line 127), then every man involved in the plot should walk away and give up the plan: “break off betimes, / And every man hence to his idle bed” (lines 127–128).

What does Brutus mean by no not an oath?

"No, not an oath!" he says. If their motives are not strong enough, an oath will not help them to accomplish the deed. Only cowards and deceivers would swear, and to swear would be to taint what they do. This is how Brutus convinces his men.

Why does Brutus disagree about taking an oath with conspirators?

Why does Brutus disagree about taking an oath? Brutus feels as if taking an oath is for cowards and for people who welcome injustice.

Why does Brutus decide not to ask Cicero to join them?

Brutus does not want to mention their plans to Cicero because he will not follow plans other men have started.
