Peter Thomas Roth Goodbye Acne Reddit

New to this sub, but I'm so inspired by my skin turn-around that I needed to share.

I see Peter Thomas Roth mentioned a lot, but not in the context of the entire acne kit, so I figured I'd give a detailed review in case anyone was wondering about it.

I have tried everything under the sun for my acne, except Accutane. Literally all major OTC brands, and all topical prescription options (retin A, Aczone, etc.) as well as oral antibiotics and anti-yeast medications. Nothing made a clear cut, lasting change.

My current skin journey started last year when I asked an associate at Ulta for a daily chemical exfoliant. She suggested the Peter Thomas Roth anti-aging cleansing gel, which I quickly fell in love with because it banished my face dandruff (this is how bad my excess dead skin was). About a month ago my acne had really flared up, and I was wandering around Sephora when I saw the Peter Thomas Roth Acne System starter kit with all the mini bottles. It was only $35 and I figured I could make it last a month (which turned out to be true). So I bought it and started the next day.

My Skin: Oil to the oil. I once greased squeaky sunglasses with my face oil. However, I still get tons of dry, dead skin... laying in the oil. Non-cystic acne mostly on the cheeks right now.

The products:

Acne Clearing Wash: Salicylic acid, smells divine, use a different cleanser first to remove your makeup if you want to make it last as long as possible.

Acne Clearing Gel: Salicylic acid, Glycolic Acid, feels astringent as it dries. 3/4 of a pump covers all my problem areas.

Acne Spot and Area Treatment: Colloidal Sulfur, Glycolic Acid, smells weird because of the sulfur, creamy and stays put. Part of the reason I bought this system was because I had never seen/tried colloidal sulfur before. I had mild success with sulfacetamide, so I was excited.

Acne-clear Invisible Dots: Salicylic acid, witch hazel, size of a dime. Neat little face stickers that are great for overnight. Best if your pimples respond fast to salicylic acid. Not flexible enough for a curved area like the temple, but work great on my cheeks.

Max Complexion Correction Pads: Salicylic Acid, Glycolic Acid. Smells like a peach cocktail, with overwhelming alcohol fumes. Seriously do not breath while applying this to your chin or nose. Can be drying but has done wonders for my skin texture.

Routine:

Morning: Anti-aging cleansing gel (that I still own), complexion correcting pad, Neutrogena oil free moisture or L'Oreal BB Cream, makeup as usual

Night: Neutrogena Gentle Cleanser, Acne Clearing Wash, Acne Clearing Gel, Spot Treatment, (let sit for a few minutes) pat CeraVe moisturizer over face

Results:

Wow! This is the first system I've ever tried that started working within the first week with smooth, steady improvement as time went on. If you've tried everything and think you might benefit from a heavy AHA/BHA system, this is it. If you're looking for a different spot treatment active ingredient, I'd definitely recommend trying the colloidal sulfur. As usual, I'm really impressed with PTR.

I'm a guy and I follow some of my favorite celebrities on social media. I'm basically taking care of myself to the T this year since I turned 25 and have some more income than before, so I've been looking for suggestions.

I've gone to get facials and stuff before. I've seen all of the Peter Thomas Roth products, but never really thought about buying them because of the price. But one of my favorite female rappers (Azeala Banks), posted an instagram pic of the Camu Camu line. Her skin is great.

Me: Pretty minimal acne, oily skin, blackheads are a bit of an issue, no history of bad acne, hispanic male with a mestizo skin tone complexion (think Eva Longoria).

Currently using: Apricot Scrub by St. Ives, Nivea with SPF, Burt's Bees Chap Stick, Clinque Dark Eye Reducer.

Looking to buy Peter Thomas Roth Camu Camu with Vitamin C and SPF, possibly the anti-aging scrub, and since I've used it before the dermalogica shave kit.

Obviously I'm about go from $20 a month to like $200 so I want to be sure it's good. Ultimately, I want to be sure to not go so quickly on the aging while reducing pimples and blackheads. I used to smoke cigarettes, so I'm trying to make up for it since it will hit me hard one of these days. Note: Don't smoke kids.

Sidenote: I'm going to a derma soon because I'm pretty sure I have eczema. My skin just breaks out into itchy moments. The other day I scratched my face it was so bad :( I stopped scratching and added Eucerin.
